If it's just a background, you can probably just print something out. Search the internet for something appropriate and then print it out.

For realistic rocks and plants etc, go to some dollar store and buy fake aquarium plants or just pick rocks/sand off the ground. For a sandier texture without using actual sand because actual sand might be too course at that scale, you can go to a toy section and buy those "magic sand" that should be around the play-doh/clay section.

Depends on what you want really.

It would be helpful to know what kind of setup you're wanting- what kind of toys are you displaying? futuristic? fantasy? military etc
If youre just looking for cardboard backdrops there are lots of sets out there, but it really would be better to just print out some images you like at a UPS store or something.
If youre looking for diorama playsets theres a decent amount of options these days. Star Wars has put out several good backdrops lately like a spaceship hallway and a cantina, and theres lots of sci fi and industrial themed sets out there like pic related.

You could make your own, I made this a few years ago using foam core, floral foam, paint and craft moss. There's lots of tutorials out there on making it look more realistic.

I’ve wanted a background for a while. Just bought printer ink and I think I’ll find a background from one of my favorite games and print that, then tape to folded cardboard.
