I made a comment in another thread about the Fisher Price castle that my kid brother and I used to play with around 1998 or so. I remember having a set of four knights that I always associated with that castle because they scaled with the castle perfectly so I just assumed they came with it. But after looking up the Fisher Price castle, I realized that Fisher Price knights were very different from these four knights I'm trying to ID.
Basically they were about the same height as the Fisher Price knights, but had more of a Playmobil face, except their heads were larger, rounder, and they were kind of squat. I think their legs were set in kind of a wide stance and the only articulation they had was a 360 twist where the torso connected to the legs, a 360(?) twist where the head connected to the body, and the arms could go 360 as well from the torso. Four really simple points of articulation of one axis.
There was a king that had a moustache and crown-like helmet (pictured in my shitty sketch) that we called King Mario because of the likeness. Pretty sure he had a sword like the one pictured, not sure about the shield. There was a more classic looking knight with a sword, a knight/guard with a mace, and a black knight who always filled the role of the villain to the other three.
Does anybody have any idea about these figures? I can't seem to find anything but the only brands I know from the 90s that made toys like this were Fisher Price and Playmobil. I'm guessing these were a random or generic brand but they seemed a little too high quality to be a dollar store toy, too.
