>>10096474I hate these threads. The topic is one worth talking about though, despite all the bullshit with this OP, and all these dumbass Youtubers who have some weird herd/dumbass mentality.
Think of it this way, these rich companies want to get richer, and these expensive items aren't doing that for them. They're selling a niche item to a niche audience, and said niche item wouldn't otherwise exist for one reason or another (not big enough profit, won't sell through according to analytics, retailers won't want to carry it, which is what will determine if it gets made at all). They're making these things in order to throw their 'hardcore collector' a bone. The net profit they're making off of these crowdfunds aren't even as much as a single wave of any of their products (be it a wave of ML, or Origins, or WWE Elite).
Also when you say "foot the bill", that's just nonsense. It's either us as consumers through a crowdfund or preorder method or the retailers that foot the bill through their buying power, never the big company itself. These companies aren't our friends and they never were. They're out there to make money, and these expensive crowdfunds are frankly the closest they get to actually 'caring' about their consumer (for those that want these items) because these items would otherwise never get made. The end result is these people get this big expensive toy that would otherwise not get made, and in exchange they pay more than its 'worth' (because the MOQ is so low, and the big company still wants to make money, so they overcharge from what we're used to).
