Who are the worst scalpers and why is it hot wheels/matchbox? These guys get all the good cars before the hit they shelves and resell them at an unreasonable price . why doesn't Mattel do anything about this?

I think the second worst scalper out there are sneakers.

I never realized what a nuisance Hot Wheels scalpers were until I started looking for a handful of specific cars. They're $1 at the store if you can find them but online price is $10 or $20. That wouldn't break the bank for me but it's an enormous markup.

One year I set up at a show where my table was next to a guy who had a dozen tables of Hot Wheels cars. He just loaded milk crate after milk crate after milk crate of these things. Old men, like grey haired old and not 1980s=boomer old, would line up and buy dozens at a time. That due made more in half an hour than I did all damned day.

I thought about buying a couple (the seller wasn't a jerk) but I just did not have the patience to dig through millions and millions of them.

Also another annoying thing about Hot Wheels is that I can't find a decent checklist online. There are certain cars I'd like to have but I don't know if they made them recently or at all or in the right color. But it seems like your only recourse is to go to Target every day when they open and paw through a million of the weirdo "future" cars and I just can't be bothered.

every time a libertywalk, skyline, or jdm car releases, gfl getting one, and they always either pick on out of a set or single one car out so it's all you can find for months, I wish I wasn't a wagie scrub so I could just have cases sent to me

You can defeat them if you go when the store opens (Target) or when the store puts out the toy pallets at 7pm (Walmart).

I've been doing this shit for years. It's the only way, besides getting a job at the store and getting that shit before the store opens. Even scalpers bow to that level of dedication.

Capitalism by definition means Mattel would flood the market with as many reissues as possible so everyone can get whichever model they want, and by selling as many units as possible through their own distribution channels, this will kill the basement hoarder market so Mattel get to pocket all the potential profits themselves. Some stores are doing their best to throw off the scalpers by restocking in the middle of the day instead of first thing in the morning. Another thing I have noticed is there are less scalpers that usual right now. I think many of them went bust recently.

A lot of scalpers in my city are on Facebook seller pages begging and crying for people to buy GIJoes and Marvel legends at 60 to 80 a pop.

Literally, the guys who bought all the army builders just to resell them are the same guy crying about communism, and how they can pay rent. I often offer them 4 bucks an army builder figure. I want more cobra soldiers but I don't need them so I offer 4 bucks for the secondhand stuff.

I blame boomers being unable to sell their houses as the problem, boomers have something wrong in their brain where they have to consume everything or buy everything to sell secondhand. Same cunts who part swap too, when I was a wage slave for walmart that was who figure swap, then rage like banshees when you call them on it.

Granted, boomers bought shit like avocados en-mass while saying dumb shit like "You can afford a home if you didn't buy avocado toast." So who knows what lead paint chip problems we will be dealing with till they get shipped off to a crooked old folks home.
