Sincere question, why aren't there any Transformers Accessory or Weapon packs? Just, bundles of basic-bitch parts and pieces for your existing figures to play with.
The current figures are covered in weapon ports all over their body, but the only sources of extra weapons/accessories are either ones stolen from other figures, or Transformers that "break apart" into weapons and armor for other figures. The latter is a neat gimmick sure, but, why is that the only option?
Accessory and weapon packs would be so cool. Hell, they could even blindbox them if they were really unsure of consumer interest. I wouldn't want that, but... man anything would be neat, is all I'm sayin.

The Batman toys have 3 randomly packed accessories with them including their regular accessories, which I've always thought was a nice touch. What I'd really like to see is them release runners of weapons that you snip out yourself. They could cast them in all different colors so you could mix and match to pick the best weapon for your characters. And they could do accessories for characters they've already released, like doing Ironhide's alternate gun or something.

They already done that, it's called Arms Micron and sadly it failed because it's intended target audience didn't find it appealing and the older audience found it too kiddieshit (though most of that is the Prime toys themselves being simplified). And westerners mostly hate them because they have to assemble it.

The problem was that Arms Microns were bad weapons and replaced normal accessories. Though the funny thing with Arms Microns is that they were supposed to appeal to older audiences- the argument was that Gunpla appeals to older people while pre-assembled robots are seen as kiddie shit, so they added stickers and mini model kits to make it into a project toy.

If they were just regular accessories made cheaper by sticking them on a sprue I think it would work.

This is an interesting topic because I just got Studio Series Gnaw and his gun is like a gunpla model. Rather that the solid part with hollowed out sections, is a solid part, made of two halves. Why did they do this for him and no one else? It looks miles better.

Should've been included with Soundwave, alt mode is a featureless brick, barely even visible in Soundwave's chest with the door closed. The bonus G1 rocket is barely worth it without a G1 hand weapon to plug it into.

part of it, I think, is that there's no good packaging options. american retail packaging restrictions are heavy. there's a reason Hasbro never put out the zoids customize parts kits. they are basically one big wide flat sprue, which is fine in japan, they shrinkwrap it and put it on the peg. but you can't do that here.

Transformers Generations Thrilling 30s Swerve w/ Flanker

Swerve was at an all time popularity high in 2014, so this figure was somewhat sought after. I don't recall it being hard to get ahold of, but demand was there.

Swerve's alt mode is a little red truck with black windows and some white accents.
It rolls super duper well via the power of pinned wheels and with just a flick of the wrist will happily fly across one's desk.
Flanker turns into a little drone, I think. The cool blue compliments Swerve nicely.
Stripes and auto-badges on his wings are tattered from constant fondling.

The only method of keeping the two attached in this mode is folding down Flanker's peg and plugging him right on top of Swerve.

You absolutely can do that here, just that models have fallen out of style, and the one time they did try selling sprues with transformers, there was a massive backlash because they were shit. I would never trust Takara or Hasbro to do it again, especially when budgets are as tight as they were during this fucking horrible era.
Yes it could be done better, but I refuse to believe that any slide back towards stickers could be anything but catastrophic.

Pull out arms and flip out legs and you're done.

The black pretty much all disappears and the white accents graduate to secondary colour.
With silver now being added as the accent.
The thighs are completely painted, along with those chest and collar vents.

The real charm of this toy comes from the cheeky little grin sculpted onto his face.
The combination with the popping bright blue shades is so so good.

Over the few days these two have been chilling on my desk I've transformed Flanker so many dang times. Largely because it can be done with one thumb.
He doesn't do too much, only really good for standing and maybe raising his arms.

Like all the tiny partner's in T30 Flanker does the neat trick of also turning into a gun.
And Swerve does the neat trick of being able to hold a gun.

Swerve's articulation is super basic.
Ball joint shoulders, elbows, and hips
Hinge knees, and a bit of hinge at the neck.
No waist at all.
I really wish Swerve's neck could swivel, it would add just the extra splash of personality.
Maybe there'll be Deluxe Swerve on the horizon one of these days.

FoC and AM can be bad and the current era can also be bad. You can sell them in a thin box, anon. And even if that was the case, miniatures wouldn't be allowed to be sold either because they're commonly a single sprue in either a sealed clamshell or often just in a bag with a cardboard header like actual vinyl toys are sold.

The other $5 transformers don't look very good at all, Starscream is kind of alright, but Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Grimlock are all pretty meh.

As for Arcee's robot mode, it's not that bad, her arms are weirdly proportioned and she doesn't have real knees, but it's really cool that her limbs are actually made out of her car parts, and she doesn't have a huge backpack like most other Arcees. The one weird thing is that those gray parts on her shoulders form the car's side panels, all they had to do was cast them in pink and her car would have looked better, why did they do that?

Pointblank; where he is lacking due to strange design choices and budget cuts, he somewhat makes up for in looks, size, and shelf presence. He’s nice looking and much larger than the average deluxe. His worst flaw is definitely his nearly non existent elbows.

Transformation is fun. It’s a bit tricky. The arms twist around in a weird way and I think some people will ham hand this figure and break it for sure. Reminds me of G2 or some UT scheme.
The car mode looks sick. Easily the highlight of the figure. Looks cool and fast , no gaps anywhere. The target master is lame as fuck due to his lack of articulation altogether. Finally, this has to be the grossest back I have seen on a figure in a while. This line is fuckin Masterpiece x McDonalds

Seems fine to me. It’s pretty dense, not too rubbery. I wish his horns locked into their open position but they don’t. Also pic rel is the maximum outward motion of his hip. He has hip armor that collided and this is as far as they go. Looking all over my collection for a inner robot head for him but absolutely nothing is going to fit this bigass ball joint. An amendment to my earlier comments regarding skullgrin’s rubberized parts; he fell over on his guns and when I picked him up and saw them bent it was only then I realized they’re rubber. Pretty pliable too, quite a bit softer plastic than his horns. Also, shame on hasbro for not making all the Pretenders deluxes. Really aggravating.

What's really sad to me is that this is, transformation scheme-wise, the best Arcee we have ever seen. In Archer's era it would've been a full priced Generations figure with a realistic sports car altmode in hot magenta or something, but due to Warden/Warden Unicronus's GEEWUN agenda, it got sent to the Authentics camp so they could release another G1 Arcee with a slightly smaller backpack.

Let's hope a third party company gets crazy enough to do pick that transformation and use it on a random Arcee later because I'd love to see that same Arcee done right.

I really ended up screwing myself on the SS86 Dinobots.

I got the POTP ones and got the PE upgrade sets for them, I assumed they were just going to be the best Dinobot options available despite the fact they were honestly kinda shit. When SS86 Grimlock showed up I assumed he was going to be a one off, and the fact I could never find one in stores made me ambivilant. Then Slag comes out looking kind of shit with that back kibble so I still didn't go in on it, but now we've got a Sludge that I think looks legit good but it's just way too late to get Slag and Grimlock at reasonable prices.

There are two major problems.
The dino mode has a big cavity next to is robot toes sticking out. Now granted, this is meant for weapon storage but it looks more like the feet were meant to fold into the belly but they ran out of budget.
Secondly, his kibble wings are connected via a friction hinge to soft rubbery pieces. So they're loose and easy to pop off and though it's not common (yet) there's a risk of the rubbery pieces getting torn.
Also common reports of loose joints at the legs. Sludge is a mess.

BHX/YouXing is the cheap one that's the same size as Hulkie with no individual guns. There's a mid-sized upscale that has an unpainted die cast Bonecrusher chest with a copy of the Maketoys Giant rifle that splits into separate guns, then the Weijiang massive version that's hard to find now but has lots of individual guns. Expect to Pledge most of the joints on BHX though.

Personally, I'd have combat hero prime redesigned as a firetruck with his canon being a water hose. You'd still be able to keep the box it plugs into as a "water tank" but we'd all know what it really is.

Alternators/Binaltech was a co-developed line. A lot of the push for it was Hasbro realizing that they might have to pay some car companies for licenses even if they change up details; RiD sideburn had Dodge basically force them to buy a license. Plus with them reissuing G1 toys, they likely figured they might as well put the licenses they were going to end up forced to buy to use(granted it ended up the G1 reissues flew under the radar.)

Even owning RiD Super Scourge, I always thought this redeco was awesome, especially because he has a Megatron-esque arm canon. In my head canon, all the non-show RiD characters are basically a post-2000 second series that happened after the first show. Scourge was taken to a Cybertronian jail like in the end of RiD, stripped of his weapons, and manages to escape. But he only has access to an experimental cannon

What I like about the core pretenders is that they both have articulation built into the transformation. But then that bat dude has foot tilts for the hell of it, I don’t think it’s even involved in the transformation. Makes me wish that Skullgrin was a core too, because atleast then I can excuse the lack of rolling on a TANK.

I'm europoor and I was in a few toy stores today, and at most there were just a couple of Cyberverse boxes and even less Legacy ones, and some stores didn't have Transformers toys at all. Also interestingly there were more 'transforming robots' and similar than original Transformers. So I don't know why this brand is so unpopular when there's clearly demand for this type of toy.

Nah, nta, but I've got both of them, and while Lily's definitely got some pink/purplish blush on her, Rosa is the exact same shade of white as Iana, Clover, Shamrock, and all of the other non-grey Polys. Sadly, this means that swapping Lily's head onto Ianna's body results in a very noticeable color difference in-hand, though it doesn't seem to be as obvious in pictures.

they have those scorpion claws, but they're smaller. so I would have the movable finger part of the claw become the spiked heel on some high heeled boots, and have the rest a vaguely S+M themed predacon, with the tail's whip ending up on one of the arms as a weapon. the only really awkward part would be the two really long front legs, which I guess could just fold up and become some okay-looking kibble.

I like my Siege Springer but I'm not 100% satisfied by the mold. I feel like they over-engineered it to get the bot mode toon accurate but left the vehicle modes kind of mediocre, especially the helicopter.
I'd like to see a Springer that more closely follows the original toy's design, basically pic related but with feet.

Toon accuracy would be him having a rounded barrel chest, the grill only taking place of his pecs, with a substantial green area for his abs underneath it, fenders sitting on the sides of the shoulders instead of being the shoulders themselves

For me, I just want simple transactions. If both parties are totally transparent there aren’t any issues. When I meet people and they ask if I want to check the item out I almost never do and they’re always shocked. I’ll never forget this one time the seller forced me to look over his item. I give it a once over and make the deal. I get it home and it fell apart. I know he knew it was broken and he cleared his conscience by having me look at it. That taught me a lesson that I clearly forgot today to always inspect before purchase.

Transformers Generations Thrilling 30s Skywarp

Now I know for sure that I own all three of these guys. I really could have sworn that at least one of them had different weapons.

Skywarp here is represented in plastic in his Fall of Cybertron skin. But release schedules being what they are he had to wait near two years before joining his fellow FoC toys.
Fairly certain this was the last FoC toy to come out.

And this is a terrible note to go out on.
Like always, Skywarp's colours are what sell him. Hasbro did a good job here of balancing the purple, grey, and black. Even in getting the paint to match their self-same plastics.
The black paint is a bit glossier than the plastic but the way it runs the fuselage, up the tailfin, and out the thrusters looks super cool.

The big flaw of this jet is that the head's just right there.

The only one I ever got during that era was Shockwave, and despite his legs being very thin, he's fine. The Combaticons were abortions on every level and the worst it's ever been, and I think we focus on them more than the line as a whole, because there were some bangers in there. Just such a departure from WfC being an all time peak and not even being that far removed from RotF.

I don't think I've taken a picture of the guns combined yet. The way the gears mush together was a very good addition by whoever included it.

As far as posability goes Skywarp's got everything you want that isn't a waist joint.
Universal shoulders and hips.
Bicep, wrist and thigh swivels.
Ball jointed neck and double jointed elbws.
Hinge knees and tilty ankles.
I've just now discovered that he has some forearm armor that prevents his wrists from going all the way around.

Finally, as a bit of added flare, there's like a whole skeletal structure molded onto the panel his legs swing down on that you can't see in either mode.

I still believe that Swindle is the worst modern Deluxe sized Transformer ever. It's astounding that they thought this was okay, especially with how much better the Seekers and even the other Combaticons are.
And yeah, it's why I believe that they have those streams just to make people believe they're buying toys from cool fun people who are suffering a bad job just like you and me!!! And not the largest toy company on earth that rakes in billions in profit every year by gouging us with price increases and quality drops. Like I do feel bad for those people to some degree, but at some point you still gotta recognize they're selling you a product and you can and should criticize that product.
