There is one "comic only shop" where i live, and he makes most of his money on buying and selling old stock, while every other lcs has 2 rows of comics, and the rest of the store populated with funko, pokemon, and magic. I know at least one store locally that has switched completely to a card/board game seller/hoster because comics brought in literally no money, and comic companies dont offer buybacks anymore.
Funny thing is even though manga and anime are absolutely fucking the western comic industry currently, it seems as if comic shops are the last to pick up on it, with stores like barnes & noble and target getting the majority of the sales.
