Selling 50k is a lot for a collector line.
It pales in comparison to mass market/children toylines like McFarlane's DC or Hasbro's ML lines, where selling 100k can be considered a failure, bordering on losing a license, or not worth licensing for.
Non-licensed mass market toylines selling can get by with 100k sales, but it depends on the company. Companies like Hasbro would consider it losing money, as they likely have a formula on how many resources (man power, prototyping, etc) can be put into a project and how much revenue the line should generate.
Obviously, a company like McFarlane enjoys any revenue he can get, hence making collector lines for Warhammer, My Hero Acadamia, and Princess Bride.
