Looks like a fun toy, but wrists that only turn upward (useless for its swords) and no ankle rockers, it doesn't functionally look like a modern toy. Definitely looks really good otherwise.

Banzaitron is good for what he is, an updated version of the actionmaster with better articulation. If you can get him cheap, I would definitely recommend him. But not full price.

He's...okay.

His shoulders are absurdly restricted so he barely gets outwards motion on the sides. Great sculpt and paint on my copy, and I'm inclined to like him because Bombshell's my favorite Insecticon, but I'd say only get him on clearance. Bugged me so much I didn't even bother taking photos when I got around to open him.

Basically if I had to rate wave 1, it's Banzai-Tron, then Optimus despite his jank elbows, and then Bombshell.

Looks like each wing is on two hinges, so flapping motion should be decent.
I don't think you'll have much option in the way of sweeping them back or tucking them in

I felt the same way when I first saw the figure, even seeing it in store. But for some reason when I got the figure in hand it didn’t bother me at all anymore. He really just looks barrel chested and strong. I think part of what helps is that he is much taller than a lot of other bots.

I think there's nothing wrong with the look itself, it's just that it doesn't really feel like Bulkhead. Just thinking back, Energon Ironhide was nothing like the original Ironhide, but he wasn't supposed to be, he was just using the name. You could think of it with this version of Bulkhead too, but it's clearly meant to invoke the Bulkhead we know. Nothing wrong with different versions I guess, but his unusual appearance is probably the most notable thing about Bulkhead.

Another thing that elevates that Bulkhead is the fact that he’s just fun to play with. His transformation is good and his poseabilty is surprisingly expressive. His heel spurs help a lot for dynamic poses. I’ve spent more time playing with him than many figures I wanted far worse. I got Bulkhead as an impulse purchase for $15 so that factors in too.

I do want an interpretation of the character that properly conveys his BLOATED physique. Bothi his Animated figure and the Generations update aren't a walking robot cube. They are forced to make things too skinny.

I think it works when you consider the sometimes major differences when taking a g1 character and putting them in a different aesthetic.

I hope they end up making figures true to prime and animated however.

I remember checking so many TRU and I couldn't find it. Cases of 1 Bulkhead to 3 OP was such a mistake. Luckily the Core (I can't recall if this was Cyberverse, or Scout, or what at this point) Bulkhead is also fantastic and I did luck out on finding that one.

For a Leader class, he's fairly big - a full head taller than Beast Megatron or Ultra Magnus. He's also pretty solid - no hollow parts to speak of, and he can hold some decent poses due to his big feet and added support on his arms.
Unfortunately, that 'added support on his arms' comes in the form of some odd armatures that make up part of his 'wings' in alt mode; the things are a bit of a pain to reconfigure and the balljointed tips have a habit of popping out of their sockets, but they can be posed and made to move along with his arms in pretty much any position other than directly over his head so long as you're patient with them.
He has no waist rotation to speak of, but his upper thighs and shins right above the kneecaps can rotate to give him some potential for dynamic poses.

His 'spaceship' mode is...a thing. Basically, his chest retracts over his head, his arms lift up over his head and fold forward, and his pelvis rotates back while his legs straighten out to form 'wings' while the weird armatures mentioned above detach from hsi back and clip onto his ankles; his spear splits and clips to his shins. While I never owned any of hte previous versions of him, it seems to be the same transformation scheme as his '09 Voyager figures, from what I can tell from pictures; either way, I didn't find it too impressive.
He has a 5mm peg hole on his underside between his robot mode shoulder blades, so you can mount him to a stand, but for a skeletal looking guy, she's surprisingly heavy.

He's not bad overall - he's a good size, can do some good poses even without a waist, and feels pretty sturdy - but his robot mode is most definitely where he shines. My collection of Bayformers is really small and limited to about three other characters, but between the long mask, the weirdly shaped hands, the black color scheme, and having a staff as his choice of weapon, Bayverse's The Fallen/Megatronus here always gave me some serious Makuta Teridax vibes. He's a pretty fun 'bot and not as much of a mess visually as some of the other movie designs, and even if he doesn't quite fit in with most of the rest of my collection, I'm enjoying him all the same. I looked into what he's sky-is-falling about. Some dude on TFW got one and posted what his flaws were, and nearly all of them are standard paint issues all retail toys get from the factory, or noted with "this defect is only on my copy".
The only outright "QC issue" that may be "universal" is that Victory Leo's separation seam is very obvious in his robot mode.

From what I understand, it's two stickers that go on the backside of VL's wings. My only real issue with Legacy Bulkhead is his crotch, that narrow waist ruins the bulky strongman look of the character IMO. I think he would look much better if the waist was hidden behind the bumper. Something like picrel.

if youre referring to the protoform face that I guess most transformers have under their "mask" like the fallen in rotf when op took his face off, I dont think thats supposed to be a transformers proper face, rather just a deeper skeletal layer. its like calling the skin on your head a mask and your real face is your skull or the muscles or something. other transformers (even in the bb movie) have their eyes bigger and not so deep in their heads.
also, like I said, fractured doll mask. its creepy, why is arcee creepy and uncanny?

Yo Joe Bumblebee arrived, a nice enough toy that has a few flaws to hold it back. The biggest ones
- the shoulder joints are smooth, not ratcheted, meaning they actually don't hold the AWE Striker's turret gun without flopping. There's a shoulder peg for mounting it there though.
- The eyes are actually lightpiped but the backpack and darkness of the blue plastic mean he doesn't get the bright baby blues you'd want of the character.
- The roll cage does not flatten at all. It's packaged removed, so that's always an option if you want for bot mode.
- Being an AWE Striker, Bumblebee has fuckin' enormous tires that get in the way a bit. I like them, but can understand people who feel that sort of thing is a problem.
- No ankle tilts. His feet become the Striker's seats, but even if they had tilts there, the side guards wind up behind them anyway so there's still parts that wouldn't tilt.

Overall there's a lot of smooth joints where you'd expect some detenting, but and some might feel the plastic has the "feel" of a Joe vehicle which can feel odd. I like the bee though, I knew what I was getting when I bought him. For general height, he's a head taller than Bulkhead but has a lot more mass in every direction.

Multiple companies do Vac-Metal for small parts when needed. Jazwares does it for most of their Halo figures visors, and Mattel's done it for several of their MOTU Origins figures.

Hasbro doesn't do it most of the time cause they're cheap bastards, but they actually bothered to do some for Star Saber it seems.

Super7 doesn't do it due to the nature of the plastic they're using for their figures being more pliable than say, the hard ABS plastic used for something like Transformers or whatever. The Chrome would pretty much just flake off due to the plastic constantly flexing.

That said, it is an expensive, and apparently hazardous process to the factory workers, which is another factor into why it's not done as much anymore.

Not all that different from his actual transformation - just straighten the legs out instead of fanning them to the side, keep the chest plate down over his cockpit and rotate the head around to hide it, and leave the armature bits disconnected from the heels. Like the other anon said, this is a bit better than his 'spaceship' mode. Still not fantastic, but given that he's a transformer that has absolutely no kibble to work with whatsoever, there's only so much you can do for an alt mode.

Should be able to by bending the knees - the elbows are supporting the body weight in that pic, not the balljoint arm thingies, which are actually just hanging there loosely, so they (the elbows) need to stay in contact with the floor for it to remain standing. Bending the knees a bit should let you angle the crotch/cockpit like a mortar launcher, but I don't think you would be able to make it aim completely down without making it tip over.

Dinobot's transformation in the show is practically impossible (unless partsofrming haha) and in his case, fake chesthead is the better compromise to get as close to the animation model as possible and MP Dinobot did that amazingly.
Only drawback is the Raptor mode's leg articulation isn't that great.

I got SS86 Ironhide looking the way I want him. Much happier with the alt mode now that he has his stripe. I thought I'd try Oracal vinyl instead of attempting to paint it and it worked out really well.

Yeah. Generations did a nice compromise by using the side panels to fill out the head-chest, but the MP's have been focusing on screen accuracy.

It's a sticky back vinyl, I got an A4 sheet of it off Amazon.

It was really easy to do, just cut a 3mm strip to the length of the parts, peel off the backing paper, apply to the figure and cut off the excess. Took about 10 minutes total and it looks so much better than paint ever would. At least if I painted it anyway.

I'm looking at them now, and dinobot's beast mode head is a little less angular than I remember, but it's still got a strong trapezoidal shape. while the chest starts with two very flattened breasts as pecs, nearly spherical, which I think is the maximum polygons anything can require, since they approach infinity.

This is how I generally view the Archer days. Yeah some of the toys were shit, but at least they tried to be interesting and fresh. They got creative with the toys, for better or worse. there is even more primitive method of just shading the texture to look rounded. That's much easier to do with flatter textures opposed to rounded ones. The full head itself is far more rounded, the chest is flattened out.

they could stay attached to the rear part of the body, and fold up behind the robot mode arms. kinda similar to what the kingdom toy did but without being so flat.. just the raptor hands gently cupping the robot shoulders from behind like giving himself a massage. while the elbows point forward and give him some 'trapezius' meat.

Both Banzai-Tron and Bombshell are great, but also not without their flaws. As mentioned by others, there are points of articulation which are hindered by the design, but it's up to you whether maintaining a faithful design is worth it. One thing I noticed right away upon opening them is a strong smell of rubber rather than plastic. In fact, a significant portion of the figures seem to be made of a soft-ish, almost soap-bottle type rubbery plastic rather than the hard plastic you might expect from a traditional Transformers figure. It isn't inherently a bad thing, but just a bit different than I expected.

There is one small nitpick I have about Banzai-Tron though, and that has to do with his face. I don't know if maybe whoever designed the head sculpt didn't have the original figure on hand, but he/she completely misinterpreted his face mask. There's a part that's supposed to come inward, almost the mouth carved onto a samurai mask, but instead the Super7 version juts outward as if to give him an underbite. The bottom-left panel on this page shows how his original G1 toy was, but instead, where it goes inward, his mask goes outward. Not the end of the world, but an odd choice that definitely looks a little less cool, in my opinion. Other than that small gripe, I like him quite a bit.

her transformation is basically her back fenders/wheels, car rear become her feet, her front fenders become her shoulders with wheels sticking back like knockout, and her 4 car doors (and maybe her back window? hard to tell) becoming an armored skirt.

the leg covers that make up the body of the car concern me, feels incredibly stiff to shift them up and down and also having to flex them to fit around other bits of the car.

His robot elbows have suffered from severe mold degradation. The nubs that hold his forearms on are more or less non-existent, so they just fall right off if you attempt to make him hold his weapon or shield. His missiles have also been changed to a rubbery material that is way too thin and don't slot into his back securely anymore and hardly fit into his gun. Transformers Generations Thrlling 30s Megatron

I can't remember if this or Dreadwing came first. I think it was this one.
This is the Megatron from Spotlight:Megatron, the one where he bullies Starscream the hardest he ever did.

Megatron turns into very different choice for Megatron. A flying wing type bomber.
Wingspan's aboot 7 inches wide, so as deluxe planes go he's pretty large.

He's got useless landing gear and that's about the only "feature" plane mode has other than it's wooshy shape.
It's a great deal more threatening in black and purple rather than Dreadwing's baby blue

Robot mode is broad and strong. Looking.
The construction is not strong. I'm going to need to hit his hips and ankles with the polish. Maybe the shoulders too.

The colours still rock. The sparkly black and light purple are joined by dark purple fists and underpants.
The wing tips combine into some kind of fusion cannon.

For movement he's got ball joint shoulders and hips and neck
Swivels at the biceps and thighs
And hinges and the elbows and knees, elbows bending to 90 and knees 180

I would have liked to see a waist swivel given how broad his chest is but the way his transformation works won't allow it.

because kinda.. part of the whole beast wars concept in the first place is let's see if we can make an animal into a robot that integrates some of that animal's colors, not a completely differently colored robot wearing its pieces. but naturally the show, having access to textures and shaders, made all robot parts metallic and quite separate.

Yeah. When MP Tigatron released I had to peace out. For his fragility and quality control vs his price, I had to pass. I was pleasantly surprised when his Hasbro counterpart came out and was so nice. For being roughly $200 less than the Masterpiece, he's amazing.

Sure I wish he was bigger and fit in more with my MP guys, but he works good enough. But his quality is great and a fin figure to pick up and play with.

Here is my window shelf I use to display my Beast Wars figures in my gaming room. A mix of Masterpiece, Anniversary, Original BW, Kingdom and a third party Starscream ghost at a smaller scale. Honestly, I kinda regret not getting a few Kingdom figures I already had MPs of, as the few Kingdom figures I got were outstanding. I wanna track down a Kingdom Primal for sure.

I picked up the retro colored Dinobot and love him. I had the original as a kid. Makes me wanna track down his normal version. Its a fun toy in both forms, just like Tigatron.

They literally did though and made that clear at the time retard. Wyatt made sure to communicate with Archer about every design and make sure there was a feasible way of doing each one in plastic form which is why the line turned out so spot on first time round, scale autism is the only thing they didn't factor in initially but even then they made a bigger Bulkhead and smaller Bumblebee later on with Lugnut the only one being left hilariously undersized.

This was a good toy, he even has a little matrix in his chest. I appreciate that detail. The voyager that preceded it was okay, I had the 'first strike' repaint. There was a little Peter Cullen driver that disappeared when you opened the door, neat little gimmick.

I skipped combiner wars Optimus because I had no intention of buying anything else from the combiner wars line.
I bought PMOP because I had the g1 version, and thought it was a good enough update.
I skipped voyager laser prime because he's just octane.
I skipped POTP Optimus because it just seemed like a strange knockoff of PMOP
I skipped on siege voyager optimus because it was ugly
I skipped on galaxy upgrade prime because I have zero attachment to the UT.
I got earthrise optimus because he was nearly perfect
I skipped core prime in kingdom because I don't really care about core classes
I picked up laser prime because he looked pretty good, I never had him as a kid, and I was pleased with the result. I've seen no significant complaints, and these threads made me think he was going to have problem after problem but the only thing I found that was even a little annoying is how his arms are designed to rotate off center for Truck mode means that if you're too clumsy you might pop them off when posing him, but they're easy to pop back on.
I also like how varied his shoulder stacks can be posed.

Uh I got Classics 2-pack Prime because it was two leaders while the other Classics was one leader.
Got the tiny RTS Prime to go with Megatron.
I skipped the weird and cheap looking or gimmick ones and got Siege since it was affordable and faults overlookable.
Didn't see ER or Legacy Prime affordably, didn't get the small Kingdom Prime since he holds his gun weird.

Victory Leo's inner wings are made of that unpaintable plastic, which is why it comes with stickers. That's something to watch out for.

I don't think I made an argument there either. Leader prices are generally dogshit, moreso in Canada. I just wanted an Optimus that felt less than a decade old, and was bigger than my pocket.

Inversely, I got SS86 Hot Rod and Kingdom Rodimus (I want to say ~110 CAD, but it's at 80-90 CAD now?), because he's my absolute favourite. Optimus is still in the top 5 though...
But yeah. TR Overlord, Siege Shockwave, Magnus, and Astrotrain went to voyager-tier clearance prices which were just supreme. Now sales even in general are rare..
