I'm at a point in my collection where I may as well. I've gotten pretty much all my favorite versions of characters from Hasbro baring one or two gaps that quite frankly, I'm willing to live without. I went the SHF route with the No Way Home Spiders, they're just better.

I want a few from this wave, but not bad enough to pay the higher cost PLUS take the new gamble of getting your actual toy vs a SWAP or parts theft. I don't want another fucking Cap and I don't want to buy him just to get the BAF piece, and I don't want to buy the BAF piece from some tard online when they charge 90% of the figure's price JUST for the piece. It's been....okay I guess building up the Python Squad or whatever they are called but I know I'll still get fucked in the end when the final team member(s) come packed with another rerelease, just like collecting the Venom Symbiotes forces you to buy ANOTHER Venom if you want to finish that "team". And, lets not forget how hard the Hasbro team patted themselves on the back for finally completing a team when they know they are stringing people along as it is.Literally no excuse for not finishing teams by now.

Hasbro is going out of their way to kill the Golden Goose. And as an opener, I still HATE the windowless boxes simply because of the swapping and fraud that occurs so often.

Except now they aren't always ordering normal cases but solid cases of a single figure from a BAF wave (like Sabretooth).

I think my strategy might be to only grab the Must Have Home Runs if it's a highly coveted figure for me. During the first Black Panther film, that was Namor and he went on deep clearance. I bought him at retail price and don't regret not waiting, we paired well with the Walgreens FF that came out around that time. Molecule Man just looks bad. Strucker looks alright but could be better. The Orb would have been fun at a cheaper price, but at $25, well, I won't notice his absence from my shelf. Yelena is a modern look I'm not familiar with and don't care to spend $25 on.

I'm still salty about paying $35 for Toad. There was no honest reason for him to cost that much. But he filled a hole. If I'm going to get gouged by Hasbro, I'll just deduct from a different Hasbro product I would have otherwise considered.

Yep. Team Builder (in the right costume! Looking at you, Banshee!) or Must-Have, otherwise I'll just wait for clearance. If that "wait for clearance" behavior ends the line as it has so many before it, then the line wasn't viable to continue as is.

I know there is no enforcement to the age limit to post here, but you really need better education. Inflation does not simply occur in a vacuum. And do you not grasp the cascade effect? Decisions have consequences. Raising taxes and wages leads to increase in cost of goods and services. Increasing the cost of fuel, which the current administration absolutely has done, cascades into the cost of everything else. Government actions also create monopolies that increase prices. Examples are, my former city increased costs associated with trash pickup to the point the "little guys" were priced out of being able to do business, leaving the largest company who instantly tripled prices once the little guys were out of business. Once the "error" was discovered and regulations were relaxed, the little guys had already sold off all of their equipment and were gone, and prices never went back down even though the only company left had a monopoly and no longer had the increased costs.

Similarly, anyone who follows the toy market should know the same thing happened to the shipping companies from China, and there is now only 3-4 major companies with a WORLDWIDE monopoly on shipping. A shipping container pre-C19 was about $2k, and is currently now over $20k. THAT is why your toys cost more now.

How many people are already angry? How many people have already verbalized refusing to continue if ML hits $28? How many silent collectors will just drop out, and how many have already said they are going to seriously pick and choose, if not just wait for clearance?

It's a fascinating topic to discuss, but I don't think the verdict is out yet on what the market will bear, we haven't even really seen it take full effect yet. Personally, I'm feeling a very strong vibe reminiscent of the OLD Toy Biz line (the 5inch pre-Legends line, and their end of days repaint waves at KB Toys). We're already scraping the barrel and rehashing characters non stop. The windowless packaging is going to deter a ton of collectors risking a swapped or stolen figure from buying off retail shelves. Heck, I had a hard time with a fully swapped Amazon exclusive Wolverine set being replaced with a second swapped set! $25 for The Orb who may or may not be inside his windowless box instead of an Eternals figure swap, how well CAN this line continue at retail? And, as a Star Wars fan, I'm not paying $28 for those figures shown in this thread.

Sure, gas prices bottomed out during covid when global demand collapsed, and as such production was reduced. Things like fracking ground to a halt due to oil price not being high enough to justify the efforts of extraction.

Also during this time, deals were struck with groups like opec to keep production low for a couple years in order to try and bring gas prices back up. Oops.

On top of that, we've got multiple other layered issues. A european land war, a temporary refinery outage due to a fire, and plain old corporate greed keeping prices high because they can. Ever wonder why gas is so much more expensive now when the price per barrel is as low as it was when gas was much much cheaper? Ask Exxon.

Why are so many Marvel Legends designs for characters they choose to make from the 1970s? Half the characters there are taken from the pages of comic books from around 50 years ago. Only Iron Man, Cap (makes sense given Ultimate look), and Yelena look modernized and Wonder Man looks like he could fit into most eras. makes sense. a lot of the prices are hovering between 12 and 16. So they just picked them up and doubled the price.
