>>10134491It sold decently enough at first but the final wave, which was for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, ended up being clearance fodder and killed any hope of Indiana Jones being a perennial toy franchise. It was probably kind of a lost cause from the start, because Indiana Jones doesn't have an expanded universe supported by cartoons and TV the way Star Wars does. There's a few novels, a few comics, a game once in a blue moon, and the oft forgotten Young Indiana Jones TV movies.
There's plenty of stuff they could make toys out of from that time period, sure, but the problem is that the more you build out the line the less it would feel like Indiana Jones, and the more it would feel like a World War 2 version of GI Joe. There's simply not enough characters and unique vehicles in the IP to support an ongoing line of toys.
Having said that, it's a crime that we never got the Flying Wing. That should have been the flagship product of the toyline, and instead they did a redeco of the Mustafar playset from Star Wars as the Temple Playset.
