>>10142050>Just look at Marvel, a lot of the characters are completely different from their comic counterparts and people eat that shit.I think we can all agree that Marvel is the rare exception, but also for everything they change there's a bunch of stuff they don't. And when they do change something, people usually complain about it. I'm talking about shit like the original Mario Bros. movie, Godzilla 1998, Dragonball Evolution, Power Rangers 2017, Snake Eyes, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (the only thing people remember about it is how it fucked up Deadpool). None of those movies were anywhere near as successful as the studios wanted them to be, none of them got sequels (hell, Deadpool 2 goes out of its way to intentionally erase XMO:W from existence on-screen and it's presented as a good thing), they're all infamous for having changed and fucked up the characters, and they've all been forgotten except for the occasional online "Top 10 Worst Feature Film Adaptation" lists. You'd think movie studios would have learned to stop making that shit.
>People don't care if the movies adapt the source material properly or not, they just want entertainment. This is provably untrue. You've never spoken to someone who's seen the movie recently who's said "All I wanted out of a Godzilla/Dragonball/Power Rangers movie is [something you'd reasonably expect to see in a Godzilla/Dragonball/Power Rangers movie] but they didn't even do that because of all the stupid changes they made"? Really?
