Toys were certainly the main draw, up until I got older. But there was plenty else to like. School was always a lot more laid back and fun for a couple weeks, and I still like Christmas-y vibes on their own.

I had an older brother who made me skeptical of Santa from a young age, but I still wanted to believe in him for a time. And my parents would even go through the trouble of having the plate of eaten cookies with snow-prints on the carpet and shit. After a while it became a fun joke, even did something similar for the Easter bunny.

My mom had homemade felt Christmas decorations for kids that her mom had made (Santa and his sleigh, reindeer, etc.) that she would hang on the walls every year. That was my favorite part as a little kid.

My issue was that I couldn’t believe Santa really had mystical powers so I asked if he is friends with and on the same level as god and Jesus, and my parents said yes. So I imagined god checking to make sure kids are good and then giving a list to Santa and they all work together, and I was content thinking of it that way.
Then when I was 13 or so and my parents finally told me Santa isnt real I broke down crying and became depressed because to me that immediately meant that god isn’t real since to me they were all mystical and connected. I have been an atheist ever since that day

Yeah, we were busy driving around visiting on Christmas Eve and sometimes Christmas day so I always had to wait to really check out what I had received. I always take the 26th off now due to the stress of having done those things myself while I had a family.

As a kid yes. Though I always enjoyed the decorations and atmosphere. People always seemed nicer too. Now having worked in retail for 20 years all the magic is gone. I can't enjoy it for being too damn tired and busy. Probably would be different if I was married and could relive that magic through my kids. Sadly I'm too damn old to start a family at this point. The world doing to shit doesn't help matters either. Everything up to the 00's really were the best time to be alive.

Yes, as up to date i still enjoy spending time with my family and watching Christmas themed movies before dinner.

As for toys, i rarely got them for Christmas, it was more of a birthday thing only. Now i buy myself a toy almost once a month so im getting something for myself this Christmas, most likely the mafex T-800 and Mezco Michael Myers unless both of them get delayed.

Yes, the overall feel on the month leading up to it is something I enjoy a lot, I would always look forward to the Christmas special for the cartoons I watched and the movies they'd rerun as well as the in-between segments back when CN did animations and giveaways.

Nowadays isn't to dissimilar, I have shoes and movies I make a point of rewatching during the season and now that I'm much older I discovered I get a lot of joy from giving gifts to other people, plus the /toy/ secret santa threads are always enjoyable.

Same, I always have a weird memory of that movie. I remember the main kid in it being voiced by Tom Hanks and I remember thinking it was weird the kid has an adults voice but apparently that isn't the case since I rewatched clips of it and he has a kids voice.

I generally enjoyed the holiday season. The colder weather, especially the grey days with a bit of a breeze. Walking to school and hearing the dead leaves rustling around. All the holiday stuff we did at school. Seeing all the lights go up. The xmas cartoon specials on Saturday mornings. The excitement of presents starting to pile up under the tree. I still feel the same as an adult, but now I get excited for all the toy sales I get to buy for myself. Screw the family kids, they get ROSS bargain stuff. But having the family together for xmas dinner is also a highlight since we're spread out now.
