I looked it up and it seems like the original run only did Luffy, Nami, Ace, and Sanji.
So since it's essentially just a new line of figures I imagine besides the crew, their immediate priority is probably on
-the newest waifu, Yamato
-Shanks because of Film Red
-Jewelry Bonney as the current arc female
And probably fan favorite Law
After that they can pretty much go from anywhere desu, probably with a focus on current arc stuff like Sabo and Vegapunk.

It has to be Romance Dawn trio. What versions though, is the question. I guess one thing about One Piece is that they have countless different canonical appearances they could make figures of for them, which might be a bad thing as well, since some people may wait for future versions.

Idk what to do with my VAH collection right now.
1. I don't need two One Piece lines
2. They're excellent figures, but I would prefer 1/12th scale.
3. Even though I would prefer SHF, I would still wanna keep all of the VAH instead, if Bandai doesn't even end up completing the straw hats at least.

I mean, keep em? It's a pretty easy choice. Unless you're hurting for cash so bad that you NEED to sell the VAHs to afford the SHFs, just keep em both. Not only am I a bit dubious that Bandai will top them (even though they've been improving a bit, their anime face game is still quite weak), but I am sure these will remain nice in their own way. I have a few VAHs and really like them.

Going by anime it'd have to be wano, I doubt they'd go manga and vegapunk attire. My personal wish would be just the standard time skip outfits instead of wano but if they do go for wano at the very least it would give hope for kid and law figures sooner rather than later.

Keep them for the time being. If/when Figuarts has released all of those characters that VAH did and at a similar/better quality, then consider selling them. No doubt you'll catch more for them than you paid for them at any point in time unless you break them or they degrade in the next 5 years.

They could sculpt the articulation into the hakama like Play Arts Kai did (yeah, I know, "play arts kai lol") but it wasn't too bad. I think there's other figures with Hakama. Some Revoltechs, some Super Action Statues. It definitely should be possible. Mainly because they aren't actually one big dress, but split. The fact that they're so wide and dark just makes them seem like one piece when the legs are close together.

And DB Figuarts has spent the last two+ years being on fire so...

My point is that if Bandai actually cares about making this line work (and people buy it), then they will absolutely shit on everything else that exists. Bandai is objectively better than Megahouse when it comes to articulated figures.

Bandai doesn't even need to try that hard - they just need to be the first to get the entire crew in an articulated line and the rest will take care of itself.

That's the price they have on mandarake because nobody wants them, the retail price was 3300 yen. A somewhat decent deal by today's standards, but the figures were still way worse than any anime figma back when they were in that same price range.

Ace and Luffy look awful, but Sanji and Nami are not terrible. (Though you need to use the exaggerated heart and berry faces or they look like trash.)

Even if they looked good, the line was destined for failure because they ignored Zoro in favor of Sanji.

How would that not apply to litteraly everything else including hundreds of shitty past SHFs? Of course Bandai COULD make great looking OP SHFs but thinking it WILL happen because a figure from a completely unrelated line looks good makes no sense. If there's a single thing every SHF collector should learn it's that Bandai can offer the best and the worst no matter how big or important a licence is.

No one has successfully done an articulated One Piece line that even covers the Straw Hats...never mind some of the more obscure fan favorites. All Bandai needs to do is give the line a strong start and then they can coast off the license for literal decades, so I doubt they are going to repeat the same mistakes they made with the original Figuarts run. Additionally, I'd argue that the recent IW Luffy shows that Bandai is willing to invest the talent and resources into making One Piece figures that do look good. Obviously there is evidence that suggests things could be shitty, but I'm more optimistic for this line given some of Bandai's recent releases.

All speculation aside, my dream of maybe getting a figure of pic related makes me excited by default.

The figurise model kit had some stretchy limbs, but yeah, no other complete figure.

I'll admit this is kind of a surreal moment since I first began looking for figures as an adult around 2000 when I started watching one piece fansubs.

Sometimes you gotta wonder what the heads of Max Factory think when they see this shit get announced. Like the Denji head on the Figma is nice, but the SHF is so much better in every single regard AND it's almost half the price. Even if this comes with zero accessories beyond the alternate head, the SHF is going to cause so many cancelled preorders.

Same. I got her cheap, like $10, and still feel a little conflicted about it. She doesn't really have Oda's signature slim-thicc proportions, instead she just looks kind of sickly anorexic. She is way too thin all over.

Her poseability sucks as well. Her skirt is hard plastic, which really limits what you can do. And her heeled feet make balance a chore. Her faces are also all terrible looking. I don't really think I like anything about this figure, in retrospect.

3 isn't a bad start, even if they're incredibly obvious choices. I would like to see what else Luffy comes with, and how Zoro turns out. If Luffy doesn't come with Haki, or anything 'power' effects, then what's really the point of it. I'd probably wait for the upcoming form.

And for Zoro, how they handle his 'robes' is pretty important. Sanji should turn out solid, as there really isn't much different from him than would inhibit him in any way.

This R&D guy from the Instamashii livestream mentioned that the figure will come with 3 kinds of arms. So assuming one is normal ones, then it's safe to say the other two are a stretchy and an armament one. Didn't say specifically if it's 3 pairs. Just said 3 different arms.

i dont know how much they get involved when someone else does the figures, the figma name can be used by a variety of companies. im also not sure how much gsc cares aslong as they distribute

i think it was done because then the licence was really tight before it imploded in the long drought where none could do figures. wich i think ended up in the licence splitting up (with the US getting its own licence, hence no usa re-release for deku and no usa release for bakugo and wheoever else figma made)

There's probably another factor here. They wanted to do wano Luffy with a Zoro and Sanji to go with him. All 3 have outfits that you'd normally associate with the character. Wano Nami is something that would likely sell worse than a generic time skip outfit of her that's used in all the merch and video games. Same with Chopper. No doubt these 2 are still coming but it'll be interesting to see what outfit they go with.
