I'm kinda anticipating disappointment if they do Scale Tail. Part of what I loved about the original was the weird knobbly jointed tail and super squat proportions, and I feel like a modern version would just go for like, a bendy wired tail to keep the aesthetic smooth, kind of like this pic. Sure, but they also run the risk of not being able to sell the extra stock. It hurts more to make 100k units when you only manage to sell 50k, rather than make a conservative 45k and sell out. If the demand is there they could do another run in the future, they've done it before.

but yeah, the problem with glowagen man being included in that excellent combo deal is everybody got him and then a ton of people resold him, so the market's quite flooded despite him being an exclusive.

also I'm realizing now Leatherhead's loose hips, while not that loose, are much worse for him than others.. because his hip joints are made completely inaccessible by those jorts he's wearing over his jeans (in fact it looks more like he's wearing a jean jacket as pants, over the cut off legs of some jeans so they can continue down further). adding floor polish will not be easy or maybe even possible here.

Actually the silicone grease I used is still in there, the head isn't heavy enough to cause sagging. I used the hairdryer for putting the new head on though, that hole was tight.

making the mask look somewhat like casey's mask would make sense. making it a new, original kind of 'scary mask' would have worked. but making his mask resemble the deformed flesh-and-blood face of the character is as batty as a halloween costume with a picture of the character on the front. The phantom of the opera's face is not exactly intimidating, he looks like shelley duvall
it should have been a half-version of the hockey mask, twisted to be a bit more skull-like, and visible koteas half-face underneath but with heavy eye-black and the fangy teeth.

samurai leo's normal gripping hands have the 'kitty paws' joint orientation, rather than the one you'd want for a sword. and his splayed out and half-splayed-out hands both seem useless.

I will be sad if it happens because I genuinely like Ultimates for the most part. But it makes sense. It's not that that I feel like it's a bad value necessarily, a lot of their figures are HUGE and I feel like I get a decent amount of bang for my buck. But in this economy, pushing for bigger and bolder is probably not a good idea.

I hope they get out some of the more obscure characters I'm hoping for before dying out.

They like them, I like them, but the amazement of getting the line has worn off. Throw in the consistent problems through six waves (the hips, other loose joints, paint issues) and the increasing price and yeah...the line's cooled off. I think people are now at the point where they just want what they had as a kid and then that's that for them.

The line started strong, but it does feel like Super7 took that success and has pushed it into mediocrity a bit. Kinda stinks. And these instant sales on NEW waves this year? If that happens again next year, I don't see people pre-ordering from the S7 site ever again. There's simply no incentive.

Yeah, all of the must-haves are done so the line is now going into characters that weren't obscure but not everyone had. Everyone had all four turtles, Shredder, etc but not everyone had Scumbug or Costumed Raphael #3. To their credit they're trying to get a mix of characters in each wave so that you get a mix of turtles, figures from early waves, figures from later waves, etc. But yeah, they don't have the same steam anymore.

NECA's kind of hitting the same wall with the toon line, they started off with the major characters, then moved on to recurring cast and characters who weren't particularly major but may have been memorable if for no other reason than because kids had the toy of the character, and now a lot of the new stuff coming out are toon-exclusive characters who may have only been in one episode.

NECA got off easier because the prices were lower. I would never have bought some of those obscure characters if they were $50 a pop. I think that's why their Fred Wolf line has been able to survive so long and make so many incredibly obscure characters. My eyes bugged out when I saw they were making the Crooked Ninja Turtle gang, that's such a deep cut.

I am sad, mind you. I really like Ultimates despite their issues. But it feels like their time is almost up. Transformers Ultimates wave 1 also got put on HEAVY clearance everywhere. I think Thundercats is doing ok. We'll have to wait and see how this affects their as-yet-unreleased stuff I guess.

I think the only thing that's prolonging the Ultimates line is how few we get per wave, and how there's sometimes huuge gaps between waves.
in a normal line with like 10-12 per wave, they would only have one or maybe, MAYBE two waves left before a lot of us are gonna lose interest

you have to match the right ones to the right pegs. they are meant for specific ones, and they have to be facing the right way. let me see, mine was...
curved, straight, curved. and both curved-blade ones are facing uh.. yknow 'forward'
like as you're facing him, on his left, the clockwise swirl, and on his right, the counterclockwise.

You're not talking about this are you? I can't think of any art either Eastman or Laird did of Slash that was before the IDW version. I like Slash but I've never been a fan of the "villain inevitably turning into an ally" trope. Im interested in seeing where things go with these new IDW turtles.
