>>10157399>I can't imagine how it's like for guys who lived through the 80sif you were a collector in the 80s, you saw next to zero shit that would please you as a collector. Only quality toys back then weren't. Kiddy awful shit that anyone with eyes would recognize as awfully kiddy shit.
So your only option back then if you wanted a high quality anything that looked like the source were models and statueshit, and statueshit was very limited and super fucking expensive (over a $100).
It wasn't until the 90s that we started seeing higher end toys but even we knew that they could have been better. So the sky was the limit until around 2011, when we started seeing a retraction in features toys we given. Less paint, articulation was being cut, toylines being cut, and fewer toylines in general.
Did toys improve since 2012? Sure, there were some upgrades and side-stepping, but sidesteps led to materials having changed for the worst and there are still fewer toylines.
Prices have also increased obscenely. As an example, we saw GI Joes go from $2 per figure in the 80s, $3 in the 90s, $3-7 in the 00s, $6-7 in the 10s, and now $20 in the 20s.
In addition to this, they CUT features, so GI Joes used to come with 3-20 accessories in the from 80s-10s AND 20s GI Joes are either ARAH 80s quality or 5PoA 70s quality.
Same shit with Marvel Legends. They went from $8 toys in the 00s to $25 in the 20s, plus articulation and paint was decreased too.
People are already dropping the toylines, if they're not cutting back in how much they collect. So this drop will reduce the amount of toys and toylines being made in the future, AND may also lead to budget cuts on toys.
So will people still WANT shit in the future? Can they even afford it?
Some guy just said we lived through the golden age, and people will be looking back and wonder if it's even worth it anymore.
