If anything, boxes like that, especially the Joe and Special VHS Marvel one are great cause you can take the toy out and still have the box as a display piece without having a giant empty void in the middle of it. The artwork on the cover makes the packaging just as interesting as the toy itself.
Sadly the crappy CG used on basic Marvel and SWB figures just looks cheap and makes it way easier to just toss those boxes.
Still, an etched acrylic case to "display" a figure is a *really* dumb idea. But I'm sure the OP knows that as that's certainly not his pic,
