Same reason that the Infinitism line of kits and Infinity in general exists. Same reason there are all those modern redesigns of classic robots. People just have shit taste and need things to look modern, and cannot fathom why simple blocky designs work.
I'm honestly surprised they went for Takeya and not that one old bio-horror design of Ideon that I wanna say Nagano did decades ago that has become iconic.
