I opened mine, mostly to check for QC issues for a possible return. Turns out I lucked out, the worst problem was some sloppy paint on Tails' shoes.

Nice stuff overall though a varying degree of "nice". Obviously the rings are more than a little naff.

This is the European release of it yes. There's nowhere around here that sells the version with Ray and Metal but whenever they decided to make that change they sure didn't update the back of the box cuz Ray is RIGHT THERE.

However even with Ray pictured the pic of the calendar itself shows the layout of the one I got, with no room for two more figures so I dunno what the fuck is going on here.

This text on the box is a blatant lie, however. I have no idea how they count 32 pieces but you'd have to count the tray and box to get to that and I don't think that's how contents work.

I just got into collecting Sonic stuff and I am already regretting it due to scalping and my local Targets not getting or updating their shit. I created a pretty in depth collection and enjoyed making things like pic related, but I am slowly not having fun with it and might ebay it all and look into a new /toy/ hobby. Maybe Zoids or Lego.

My Walmarts are... destroyed. I check every Monday at a few Targets and my two Walmarts during my lunch breaks. The toy isle is literal chaos. Toys scattered about all over, stolen, unpacked, thrown about. I wish my shit phone could show you photos. It is pure chaos. The employees don't even bother shelving things anymore, I asked them personally, they just let it go and when there is new shit to put up, when they have the little blueprints of where to put shit, they all just put them on the top of shelves where no one can reach and because nothing actually cycles out, they don't even put out or order new stuff. The Targets just don't get anything new.

I need to get away from the city. Though your party city advice is appreciated. I might try that a few times before giving up. A few little wins would probably keep me afloat, but I have been even more dissuaded by selling my dupes and extra and every eBay listing is flooded with misers and scalpers.

I know the Babylon Rouges are confirmed but I didn't want to make it too easy. Egg Pawn as a 2.5 inch would be great. Originally I was gonna put Emerl/Gemerl over Eggman Nega, but I'm not sure if comic/spinoff characters count.

Jakks has way better durability and variety in the character pool but I can't stand some of the face sculpts on most of their characters. Like in >>10179403
I really dislike how dopey Knuckles' smile looks and that variant Modern Sonic head has always looked awful, but I can't put my finger on it exactly.

Never bought any Jazzwares so can't comment on it, but Jakk's figures have abysmal QC, from loose joints to bad paint. Their Omega figure suffers particularly badly because his legs are glued on incorrectly alligned.

Don't get why they made Silver a fatty either.

I should've mentioned this in my original post but this too, for a line that's scalped to hell and back issues like these are nearly impossible to avoid. I've had Sonic's that have knees so loose that he can barely stand, Movie Sonic's with gold strips one of his eyes that I had to scratch out, and nearly every character that has a long nose will have black splotches right between the eyes. I've also seen many many figures (mostly movie ones) where the black lines for the mouths are so badly misaligned that it looks like a mustache. 2.5 inch range also suffers from that specific issue a lot.

I think it's a weird compromise so he fits in better with the other characters/his joints working properly. I can't speak for everyone but personally when I think of Silver, I see how he looked in 06 where everyone had more human proportions in their bodies like in pic related.

I did buy Jazwares, and they were worse. This was when they were still coming out of their "Shit is clearly broken in the box" era and they had QC issues out the ass. Missing paint apps, joints that flat out were not connected, and they commonly self-destructed even with delicate use. This last part might be my memory being faulty, but I think I remember them being more expensive than the Jakks stuff is at retail right now. If not, they were certainly not cheaper.

Nope. Jakks can't do into repaints at all.
There currently only seven repaints: Clown Sonic, Clow Tails, clown Knuckles, metallic Metal Sonic, comic-styled Classic Sonic, chrome Mecha Sonic and weird Classic Super Sonic. Last four are Walmart (ebay) exclusives.

No she's not. Cream hasn't been in a game outside of racing spinoffs and Mario & Sonic Olympics since Generations, which is over a decade old at this point. Sonic Mania was absolutely huge and made Mighty and Ray relevant. They're being marketed nowadays as big characters in the "classic" series because of it while Cream continues to not have any major roles, which she hasn't had since Sonic Rush in 2005, let alone a major playable role since Heroes or Advance 3 which were both before that

There's some fuckery with the rights to the X specific characters. Probably the animation studio owns or co-owns them and Sega can't make merchandise of them anymore without doing a contract (which they won't cuz Sega). So Bokun, Chris and Cosmo are probably off-limits for the forseeable future.

We really just lack the classic Chaotix (which apart from Vector aren't very unique from the modern designs) and the Fighters characters (Bark, Bean, Fang and Honey) before we're done. Sonic X, Sonic Heroes, and Generations are staples in the franchise that influence the series to this day. Cream is still very popular in Japan, far above Emerl, Mephiles, and Infinite who got dolls of their own.

The only likely reason Cream hasn't been made, was because it's hard to sell female action figures in a boys toy line except for Rouge the Bat for obvious reasons. She still the 4th most popular female after Blaze, which is why nobody has forgotten her.

I've actually grown to prefer the smaller scale if only for the fact that there are more classic characters available, and they scale better with the 4-inch classic Eggman, Eggrobo, and Mecha Sonic than the other 4-inches do

Aside from Prime Sonic who would only need new hands and feet tooled, all the other designs will take new tooling for their bodies which means Jakks will be less likely to invest in new tooling to make more of these unique/more obscure figures like they've been doing regularly. From main cast there's only girls left and we all know how Jakks feels about girls. So probably no Blaze, Wave, or Cream in near future. Neither Tikal, Sticks, Marine or Sage. I'm also don't think they interested in low-key characters like Emerl/Gemerl, Mephiles, Zavok or Infinite.
So yeah after Storm and Gamma this line will be completed.

I finished my classic display and now I am kind of bored with it. I had more fun making it than actually having it in my house. I might end up selling all of my classics line and all my dupes. Any idea what I should probably price it for? My dupes and extra accessories I already had a buyer at 100 but he backed out, so I assume that is fair, but the little display and all the Jazz Chaos emeralds and stands and such I don't really know what to ask.

Even tempted to sell the modern stuff too. Everything but Classic Metal. I will never sell my little metal son.

The bridge is made by a series of 2x2 round bricks held together with a hidden series of bars. Its a double sided building tech with a technic pin the center. They are capped with the log skins on each side. The ends are using a headlight brick and a brown can with 1x1 log caps. The bridge is held to the sides by the same internal bars but then cut at an angle to curve onto the loops. A pair of wire cutters should not be considered an illegal building technique. The water is a lego plate covered in 1x1 clear blue tiles to sort of give it a pixel effect. I would have done alternating clear and blue to give it pic related look, but the pick a brick wall at my mall only had the blue.

I actually went in there for ideas to make the bridge and I walked out without a bridge but all the leaves for the trees and the stuff for the waterfall.

Honestly, I kind of enjoy the hunt, it's fun to get out and go around town. I like to drive too so it's refreshing. The problem is when I get anywhere the place is destroyed by hoodlums or worse blatantly ransacked by scalpers. Just this week I went to a Target who put out 3 Vectors. I have one so I don't need it. At the same time a dude walks up and buys all 3. I honestly thought of just starting to buy extras just to sell for retail + shipping to people on 4chan and reddit who are even more gyped than me.

I bring up the destruction again to emphasize how fucked these places are. Toys thrown EVERYWHERE, every 2 steps toys ripped open or stolen, if they have cards of any type they are all ripped open and stolen, it's such madness the Walmart near me, when they have new stock, they are supposed to follow a display order. You might see them when walking in, a paper that has X goes here Y goes here... ect. They don't do it. They literally put everything on the top top top shelf where you can't get shit unless asked for a step ladder and they just wait for the chaos to reach a critical point to rotate the old into the clearance or trash and put the new stuff out to be destroyed. I asked the people I met and they explained the franchise just accepts them as an expected loss and reimburses them. The poor guys aren't even supposed to do anything if they catch people ransacking or stealing.

3d printed using heavily modified files from nicbroc rock that he sold on deviant art (they are definitely not print ready and need alot of work) and the head is from streak thunder storms free model he used in a fighting fan game.

This is a great idea. You could get an extra regular Knuckles and swap his shoes on to the anni body, then all you'd really need to paint would be his nose, which is just a dot of black. Sounds so easy, it almost makes me want to try it.

I wanted to do the same thing for a Super Amy, but I figure it's just not possible to paint the joints without just locking them up entirely.

Also, I found a Big figure today. He's hollow and light but still pretty nice. He feels annoyingly incomplete without a fishing pole though, I'd 3D print one but I've got no idea about the sizing the hands are meant to hold securely.

I also got Big and Chaos at my local Target. Fresh case of three Sonic and one of everyone else, which is still unbelievably stupid considering how popular they know this line is by now. Chaos is the best figure in the line. His joints and plastic quality feel leagues above the rest of the cast. His joints are nice and tight, he’s not missing elbows, and he’s not gummy in the slightest. His fully-transparent body makes him fun to look at too. If he only had a brain inside his head he’d be a 10/10 figure, but for a $10 mass retail toy, he’s an easy 9. Master Emerald is also big and great. I strongly encourage everyone in the thread to buy Chaos if you find him.

My only problem with Chaos is his ankles are swivels instead of balljoints, so posing him is a bit difficult.

I'm also not a fan of the fact the Master Emerald is completley hollow and feels very flimsy compared to the Chaos Emeralds, but I didn't buy it for the Master Emerald anyway so it gets a pass.

I liked her in Frontiers and she's the first villain in a long time that doesn't turn on Eggman to be some shitty surprise boss. She's also the first second hand man Eggman has had in the games, rather than a lackey or soldier like the badniks as well as Orbot and Cubot. That's understandable because of 3 Sonics per box rule. It's seems Jakks adamant about "everyone should have at least one Sonic figure" thing.

I work in retail. Walmart can literally order 4 packs of certain characters in a box before we put them on the shelves. They're supposed to be used for online orders, but recently, they've been over ordering Modern Sonics and Modern Tails due to high demand. Same for the 2.5 inch series.

The Freedom Fighters are by far the best set of Sonic's friends along with Knuckles. Sega clearly agrees since they stole design elements for their own characters. The reboot ones are tepid, but still largely better than Sega's own post-Adventure 1 characters.

Scalping these figures is the stupidest fucking way to make money I could imagine. Buying a $70 figure and selling it a few years down the line for $300 after it's randomly accumulated value is one thing, but spending $10 on one of these toys, plus lets say $10 shipping, you're only making $20 on it after waiting for it to sell. It's fucking pointless beyond just being a scummy asshole. At that point just pick up Doordashing or something and you could make that amount in an hour without jumping through hoops to scam people on ebay

Do you really not get them? I usually Target hunt on a monday morning, and never find it, then some random store has it. I just have so many targets, or am able to find time to get to one after work. It's not always fun, but I'm out of the house

Nope, i live out in the middle of nowhere AND i can't drive, only way i get to leave the house to so much as get groceries is when one of my parents goes, and yes i live with my parents and i know i'm a complete loser. Never go anywhere outside of my hometown except when my mom has a doctors appointment (her visions getting worse and worse). I'd love to be able to drive, but i'm huge retard and constantly think about killing myself and others, so even if i somehow learned to drive, i'd end up wrecking something and/or someone.

Pretty sure it's non-existant, i live out in the woods of PA, so there's nothing of worth around and we're getting bukkaked by frosty the snow douche, so even if there is a bus or taxi i could charter normally, i'm pretty sure they wouldn't do anything in this weather and at these temperatures, also i wouldn't even know which way to to what i'm after save for seneca, their walmart is where i've gotten most of the jakks sonic figures i've got.
