wtf, why is this specific set worth so much?
I honestly have ignored Minecraft Lego because well, I'm not a child and I'm not autistic enough to care about Minecraft, but now I'm considering hoarding some of these sets in order to fund purchasing Lego stuff that actually interests me in the coming years...

Yeah, it definitely looks better than Lego's other offerings. The thing I also noticed is that most of the other Minecraft line didn't inflate in value like this did. It was an exclusive Lego set only sold on lego.com, and it was only available for just over a year at $250. Still, it amazes me because most of these Minecraft sets outside of the figures are just very basic bricks and plates, seems like it would be possible to build most of the set through BL for a couple hundred bucks.

4953 creator F-14, easy. I rebuilt it into so many different aircraft later on. We didn't have much money back then, I was so glad I got it I still hold onto the original box in prime condition

I'll never buy any Harry Potter sets because I'm not interested enough in them, but I will admit when I walk into Target / Wal Mart and see them on the shelves I kind of want to grab them. They are very soulful sets and they all seem to come with a fuck ton of minifigures, more than any other theme in each set.

Operation rise of the rahi will commence on the 10th of august and end on the 8th of october.

To participate in the event, simply build an original creature only using current Lego Technic parts, and upload it to lego.ideas.com between 10,8 and 8,10 2023. We suggest keeping part count within 50 pieces, but this is not a requirement. you can build whatever you like, but we strongly suggest sticking only to creatures; animals, bugs, sea life, and mythical creatures. Try not to build anything too humanoid or toa shaped. The goal of this is to show lego that there is interest in technic being more than just cars. And possibly show a demand for them. This will be a sort of stealth operation, share this with anyone and everyone who might be interested in this. We know Lego isn’t interested in bringing back bionicle, so what if we can convince them to make something adjacent?

Probably because they're location oriented sets. Most Harry Potter sets are based on a single area in the films and books. Compared to the other licenses which are mostly vehicle based, much more potential for sovl.

What is the point of Amazon's "frustration free packaging?"
It always seems discounted, and not only that it just means the Lego box comes in a custom sized box, and half the time they ship that box in a normal Amazon box too.

I'm guessing that Lego sends each set to their distributors in custom-size boxes for each set for shipping on pallets, and then retailers like Target / Wal Mart will take them out of those boxes for sale on the shelf, while companies like Amazon just keep them inside of the boxes in their warehouses.

Maybe because it's true. Back then the heads and helmets were trying to reach a middle ground between the source materian, and the goofy proportions of the minifigure design. Now it's full blown screen accurate heads on a minifig body and it looks fucking retarded. Reminds me of those custom 3D prints people get of their own heads to put on minifigures. Old aesthetic was better. Eat shit.

It's a great set. It really reminds me of my Megazord from when I was a kid. It's so good. Combiner gimmick is a great gimmick; got the Monkie Kid mini mech to look forward to next year but I hope we get another huge combiner again before too long.

if it was lower the visor would cover the helmet's printed visor. they would need to make a whole new visor mold. theyre really caught in a tough situation since they want the helmet attachments to work on both phase 1 and 2 and to keep reusing old visor molds

I always suspected it was because Harry Potter itself had a sufficient amount of soul. The first two film adaptations took a lot of effort to create an enticingly unique and whimsical feel, which stayed around for the rest of the series to a lesser but nevertheless significant degree.

When turned into sets, I think the Harry Potter style and concepts (by concepts I mean things like scenes and locations) invited LEGO to be equally whimsical and clever in their adaptation. You'll notice that early HP sets seemed exceptionally excited to represent the colourful and magical quality of the franchise.

Making your own stuff is kind of the whole focus of Lego as a medium. The display style sets are a more recent trend. You can build and display them of course, but if that's all you want out of the hobby it would be much cheaper to go for other kinds of model kits.

Technically the minifig hand isn't a piece, it's part of an assembly. This is why the known fact that lego hands split open the arms when pressed isn't "illegal" even though it causes huge stress against the components. As long as on paper they're not "supposed" to separate it's fair game to them.

That's why I said originial in execution. There are no original things to be had. Everything ever has already been thought of, the entire entertainment and art is just permutations.
But Ideas isn't even that. There are some exceptions, but they are mostly buildings, which in and of themselves aren't that original either because there is a big chance you can find a building that looks exactly like the set somewhere in the world.
But the Ideas submissions are mostly uncreative and are riding on the wave of "oh I like this thing irl, let's have it in Lego".

Someone's original looking spaceship won't win because it's not something people already know. No original sci-fi cars, dragons, floating cities, anything. It's just "existing thing made in Lego".

You have the creativity of overcoming the constraints of lego parts, scaling, caricaturizing or abstracting shapes and characters etc. There are over a hundred different fuchikoma mocs online for example, all of them have different ideas and qualities to them. The foosball also contains some unique ideas - the scale chosen, the decorations, making sure that the moving parts are well engineered.
