Well, we've got more Captivz from Toymonster International in original JP1 forms. The new T. rex mold and paintjob for these looks great. I got a bunch of Captivz for a good price and I love them. They look great and beef up the dinosaur collection in a nice way.
Hammond Collection is the first toy line I've ever really followed with any consistency. We can hope for more large theropods similar to Rexy. I'm hoping for Spino, Giga, etc.
Carno would be an absolute hit with dinosaur toy fans. I have no interest in Mattel's mainline figures, though Eocarcharia looks okay. Hammond Collection will yield us more amazing figures, just based on Rexy!

This shit is overrated as fuck and the fact that people want a giant close to film accurate "playset" of it just proves how fucking dumb people are.
The original Kenner playset is based, because it's an actual toy for a dinosaur toyline. The entire thing revolves around trapped dinosaurs tearing apart the entire playset- breaking through the gates, stomping over and collapsing the fences, tearing entire pieces out of the command center while sirens blare out.

Any kind of actual playset now will be some lame fucking movie replica tier bullshit that's absolutely massive and yet only have locations that 2 dinosaurs interacted in. Even with as big as it needs to be to fit in a couple of skeletons and a T rex, it will still likely not be large enough to include anything more than a minimal makeshift kitchen and a tiny control room or something. It's just a lame ass, boring thing meant to display basically a single moment in a movie, which is insane for such a large ticket item. The trend of making movie replicas instead of toys needs to die and so does anyone supporting them.

You're explaining the then and now without talking about the biggest factor, age of consumer.
They make shit like this new compound with display in mind. I mean you can play with it if you want but a majority of the consumers of this particular product are adults of a certain age that will set it on a shelf and walk away.
Compared to the Kenner playset that was made during an era where adults didn't buy toys at all. And kids were the market and kids played with the toys.

It's just a sign of the times.

Yeah, they wanted to have their own 6" premium line like Black Series and Marvel Legends but Jurassic Park is a very bad fit for that scale because it's not a human-focused line. Yeah, there's humans but the dinosaurs are the primary focus and at that scale there's only a few iconic JP dinos you can do before you start getting into behemoths that take up too much shelf space and cost too much to move. As it was, the raptors were getting clearanced out, can you imagine how badly a 1:12 scale trike would perform at retail?

I feel like they're already going to start running out of characters that are big enough to sell on their own and are going to start doing two-packs like this for the smaller name characters. The first movie's cast are really the only ones that would be universally known and liked and they've had to be clearanced out, so I don't think they're going to have confidence in a single-pack Eric Kirby or Vic Hoskins.

We need mercs in the Hammond line bad. It's an army builder and generic enough to fit in other 3.75 lines. We also need more play patterns. Some way for the humans to intact with the dinosaurs beyond just running away from, shooting at, or trying to contain the dinosaurs. There's a 4-pack of Owen and the Malta dinos that's just more running away without anything cool to sell me on it.
Give us some egg poachers, human remains/skeletons, maybe humans that can have their limbs bitten off?

So... who's left for Hammond Collection's humans? Seems like they just want to do the first movie's cast, other than a JP3 Alan who is likely mostly reused from JP1 Alan they haven't done any humans from the other movies.

I see them doing Nedry, Hammond and Wu eventually, I think for the kids it may not be worth it given how tricky articulation can be on smaller characters. I could see them doing park workers only as part of a set with another dino, and I doubt they'll make Harding at all.

Just got a Ceratosaurus and it seems like the lower part of the neck wasn't properly sonic welded. I assume there's no problem since it still seems solid enough. A bit of an annoyance though. I wonder if it'd be possible to put some super glue in between and just squeeze it together. Probably not.

I know the ones that went up for preorder yesterday (and were quickly pulled and are still not showing in the searches today, even though the link to it shows in Google and gives a 'this page no longer exists' error) were explicitly labeled 'Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary x Tamagotchi Nano' right on the packaging, so either they're new and look similar to the old ones or they just repackaged them. How many dinos are in the one you have? These ones apparently include over 20 different species along with some 'secret' ones.

I don't actually own any of the Amber collection raptors. Until the Hammond Collection came out, I haven't collected JP toys since I was a little kid. So I can't really tell you how much of a downgrade it is in terms of movement and articulation, but just looking at that picture, yeah, the head sculpt is considerably lower quality than the Amber collection.

At first I was glad I got them on sale instead of paying full price, because of their heads, but they're actually very fun to mess around with and I think I'll buy more of them whether they are on sale or not. They're certainly not SHMA or other brand directed towards high end collectors, but I've become very fond of them.

on the less articulated legs he stands solid. He doesnt stand on the fully articulated legs you have to mix them like I did with the 1/35. The 1/35 will stand with both articulated legs but eventually falls over.

Its the original 1/18 and the Walking with Dinosaurs 1/35 version. They are nice figures but the 1/35 is just easier to pose and play with. Sculpt and paint are just as good as the Ceratopsians but the articulation is a bit limited. The Bistahieversor is the one that is supposed to have interacted with the Penta.

Closer to the raptors to be honest you can get good looking running poses and can recreate hunt chase scenes but they cant turn their heads 90 degrees with it looking good. The body articulation is limited to some up and down but the side to side is barely there. They are still worth to me though I wish they could od more but they do look very nice and can be posed in various ways.

I kinda agree on the Brach, I'm going to have to see how much they improved it to warrant getting a HC one. Not to mention the Legacy Mamenchisaurus is coming out. As far as Irritator, I think they are starting to make non movie dinos too.

Yes and it's retarded. In Camp Cretaceous, Dodgson visits Isla Nublar as part of his usual shady business. At one point he and some other dudes are walking on a dirt road and he just kind of stumbles on it, half-buried. The area doesn't look anything like where Nedry died, it's just a regular dirty path, and somehow the shaving cream can has just been sitting there partially visible for decades with nobody noticing it until Dodgson came by. He just grabs it and pockets it and that's it.

Tigers still hunt and catch plenty of birds and reptiles. A normal part of their diet are Caiman. The colors and markings still benefit them when they hunt in certain conditions such as nocturnally even against reptiles and birds. I really dont think the orange coloring the TRex is that big of an issue as far as it being able to hunt unless you are being pedantic. Maybe it wants to be seen at certain times and hunts at nocturnally. No one really knows its all speculation anyways.

Amber dinos always sold out just like Hammond dinos.

Either way I'm hopeful that switching from Amber to Hammond was cost cutting.. A way to keep the Jurassic line alive.

Kind of amazed you never saw them, this very general often talked about how badly they were pegwarming. Even the raptor squad was getting clearanced. There's a reason you never saw Nedry, Muldoon or Grant though: Nedry was made very early in the line when only Gamestop and specialty shops were carrying it and by the time Target carried Amber Collection they'd already moved on to other characters. Muldoon and Grant came at the tail end and most stores didn't bother stocking them because they were still so backed up wit Hammond, Target only ever sold them online.

I have no clue why you never saw Hammond, though.

My first Amber collection raptor arrived in the mail. I haven't had much time to mess around with it, but I don't like the feel of the tail. It really seems like a ball joint tail would have been a better option, especially at the $35 price tag considering NECA was able to release Godzilla figures with ball jointed tails for $25 after collectors complained about the bendy wire tails. I'm not a fan of the wire in the HC figs, but at least the material feels stronger/firmer than the AC tails. Still, the paint and extra articulation is pretty nice, even though the articulation is also far less than comparably priced and sized kaiju/monster figures. All and all, it's a decent figure but not worth the price they were charging at retail and I'm glad I got mine for $15.

My Penta finally showed up, but I didn't really get to mess around with it until a few hours ago. I love how big and chonky it is, especially in comparison to my others! Ran into the same issue I had with my Styracosaurus where the joints were 'frozen' from the paint drying on them, but a little hot water fixed that pretty quickly. That tail, though...what a pain in the butt. I had no issues getting my Proto's and Styraco's tails on right out of the box, but this one took two hours of trying in vain to attach it, even after soaking it in hot water. I ultimately ended up rubbing Vaseline onto the bulb and pushing down on the tail with all of my body weight (which admittedly isn't all that much), but it eventually popped on.
The colors in-hand are really striking and more vivid than they looked in the pictures - it pretty closely matches my old BotM Pyroraptor's coloration.

Ankylosaurus has been my favorite dinosaur since I first learned about dinosaurs and became obsessed with them.

It's a good figure, feels solid, the pose ability is a little hindered by the nature of the dinosaur, considering it's a big tank anyway, it's enough for what it is

really wish the Rexes had a little more range of motion. They look great stand well but are a little stiff. The necks and bodies dont turn even close to how well the ceratopsians do. At least they are well balanced.

I still can't believe we got the giant Dreadnaughtus and that we're getting an HC Brachio.

I don't mind the multiple lines, I just want them to commit to having a "premium" line. It's nice that I can army build with the HC Raptors, but outside of the Rex, the line has mostly been slightly better kids toys because they want to keep the price down to appeal to "kids and collectors alike".

They look like garbage. No amount of scouring the earth for a few animals that have technically similar color patterns will change the fact that these paint jobs look terrible and are executed horribly. Even experienced painters and customizers have trouble making those paint jobs work and look good, and the small child slaves they have doing it in blotched finger painting classes certainly aren't on that level.

It's the choice of color Silva uses. The contrast with bright yellow-orange, black, and dark blue do not mix well. It's very easy to paint animals that have a sharp pattern

It's not that difficult for small reptiles like snakes and lizards to be green because of how advantageous it is and because they are fairly small so they require less of an investment in the first place since they don't need to produce massive quantities of the pigment. For an animal the size of a triceratops, being many shades of vibrant green would be insanely expensive and probably something only the fittest and well-fed males would be capable of, and probably only during mating season to show females how fit they are. That being said, Steelhorn is still my absolute favorite of the Ceratopsians.

I got this in the mail today. It scratched the itch for what I wanted. It's basically the side of an Amber Collection Raptor, which isn't perfect scale since I believe in the movie it was a little smaller than other raptors, but of well, its not enough to notice. Idk what company made it but its very similar to Papo quality and articulation. Only thing that moves is its jaw and its stuck in the static pose, but that's fine with me because its the kind of pose I'd want him in anywways.

I noticed on Ebay there are a lot of split / opened packs selling JURASSIC WORLD LEGACY COLLECTION KITCHEN ENCOUNTER PACK figures of Tim.

German smyths does have the big new ones like that white stegosaur and indoraptor already. visited a few smaller stores and the dominion line is still warming the shelfes (moros and miragaia EVERYWHERE even after christmas)
no sign of the dino tracker minis too, but i didnt visit bigger stores like smyths, mytoys ect. because i live in the middle of nowhere and i have drive hours to get there. Internet and amazon is useless.
