I also got the impression that pink trees were like computers, and regular trees are like network cables: individually not very vital, but en mass, and collectively, important. Removing one or two cables from a server farm is whatever, but ripping out swaths at a time, or removing all of them entirely, still fucks the entire system, even if the important computers are left untouched, but obviously destroying those computers is very devastating as well.
