Toys In The News: Kidults

No.10193245 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Here's an interesting news story that I just found:

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/19/kidults-biggest-sales-driver-toy-industry.html

It's an article about adults who still buy toys. (ie: the average /toy/ soldier.) These "kidults" take up about 1/4 of the toy sales annually and are boosting up the slowly dwindling toy industry. As i was looking into this, here's another article about "kidults" made back in July by the Toy Association, who know a little bit more as to what's going on in toys as opposed to CNBC:

And lastly, here's two articles by the Cerda Group, a licensed products manufacturer, on how they aim to capitialize on "Kidults". Creepy.

So what do you all think? They're aiming toys and other childish things at us, the adult market. Now I like toy collecting as a hobby just like the next anon, but I draw the line at stuff like clothes and personal accessories that have Spider-man or Sonic's face plastered on it. I also shudder at the sight of some adult with a Nicktoons T-shirt on. They look like literal retards. I keep my hobbies & interests in the same place where I keep my disgusting sexual fetishes. At home, behind closed doors, thank you. I'm self aware enough to know that not everyone understands or supports my hobbies. And those other people are often other "kidults" themselves.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on "kidults" and companies sudden interest in people like us?
