I bought miniso bricks and the quality is really good, cannot tell the difference with LEGO (and I have quite a lot of them).
They also don't have weird smells or anything.
Years ago LEGO alternatives were all bad, but I wonder if things have changed.
What are some good LEGO alternatives?

AFAIK the quality of the chinese bricks are really, really high. There's a company that outsources the elements to various others. Maybe they are buying from them. I can't remember the name. Also, I find the Miniso figures very cute.

Pretty much all chinese companies use Lego molds, just buy the parts you need from aliexpress.
From what I've seen the only new "alternative" brand worth buying is the Zuru Max because they actually have custom molds that make them different from Lego.
Now if you REALLY want some alternative parts there are:
1. Mega Construx - lots, and I mean LOTS of varying pieces over the years, but their sets vary from hard to impossible to get, don't bother
2. Cobi - expensive as shit, but they have easily the best selection of tiles and curved pieces
Both companies only use prints

years ago I tried some chinese brands, the pieces didn't connect properly not just with legos but even among each other.
Instead the miniso have been really good, so I wonder if there are brands similar in quality.

Tried Qman a while ago since it was considered equal to Lego.
Pretty much all the Mixel-balljoints cracked after two weeks and I don't mean the usual hairline cracks but the part fucking breaking in half.
Almost all of the parts were also made from the same generic ABS, even parts that Lego would mould in a softer plastic.
