I tried it out and learned to do binds and some simple tricks. Sure it looks gay but it's surprisingly a lot of fun and feels really good to master the moves.
I think you have to be the type of person that finds enjoyment with it as a toy first and then be willing to put in some effort to learn to do stuff with it. I also enjoy other skill based hobbies like skateboarding and solving Rubik's cubes so it's no surprise that I ended up liking yoyos a lot more than I thought I would. I'd like to find some more hobbies like this too where you just learn to do neat tricks.
