The year cabbage patch kids took off my mother was obsessed with getting one because it was the hot toy to get your kids. My grandmother hand sewed together a cabbage patch kid with nearly perfect head that looked a lot like the real ones so that I would have one. I was never into them (Garbage Pail Kids, sure), but I treasured that doll that she made. It currently sits on my daughter's shelf with some of my other stuffed animals who survived the years like original Care Bears, Sad Sam, and some Figments from Disneyland
