Hasbro always wants to be the family friendly company, so their Nerf branded stuff will always under perform... And as Elite 2.0 originally showed us, they don't want us to mod their stuff because they still might get negative press from modified Nerf gear.
But they are also all about money, so making cheaper things, so quality is going to be all over the board... So why would anyone want to mod a cheap plastic blaster that is hard to open?
The big downside for the foam blaster community is that NERF is a very recognizable brand. If people want to make Nerf obsolete and not sell in the current market, ALL "Nerf" influencers need to drop the word "NERF" from their videos/tik-toks/etc... Because, just like how "Nintendo" was basically a word for "Video games" back in it's boom time, the word "NERF" is used too much for all foam blaster videos, despite the blaster in question not being a NERF product.
We got to get kids to stop telling their parents to buy NERF guns, and use a more generic term... As parents who only hear NERF are more likely to actually buy a NERF product.
Also doesn't help that "Adventure Force" is such a terrible marketing idea that actual good stuff gets labeled with the same brand as the bad stuff from a different sub company. So if you buy one AF blaster and it turns out to be shit, you likely will not buy a good AF blaster because of the branding.
Dart Zone at least has been trying to move away from that, but even things like the Nexus and Aeon get stuck under the AF line.
So that just leaves foreign companies and 3-d printers to make shit people actually want. They don't have investors to make happy with profits.
