I've been seeing adds for these guys and want to get some user reviews, but it seems like they might still be in development.
Anyone know anything about the Moflin?

Apparently they’re shipping out the first 300 now, but I’ve seen ads for what must be rip off products for like $20.

I am not in a place where I can have real pets but I like the idea of having something cute, fluffy and vulnerable to take care of that doesn’t eat, shit or die. But I’m not about to drop hundreds of dollars on one of these guys without extensive user reviews.

Too good to be true. It looks simple, doesn't even move that much. Even a furby seems more functional than this thing. A shame though, because it's really cute. But I doubt it will be as cool as other robot pets.

According to the website you don't need to connect Moflin to the internet, so theoretically it should work even if the company goes dick up.

I bit the bullet and got an Ortomi. It should be here soon as I am also based in Australia.

I don't think they could be described as AI, nowhere on the website does it say that they are, but I chose this desk pet because it's simple, slightly interactive and doesn't move or make noise so it won't cause any problems at my office job. I watched a lot of reviews and a couple of people described them like a tamagotchi with zero maintenance and that's exactly what I'm after. I spend a lot of time sitting at a desk, be it working or playing video games or D&D with my buddies over discord so it will be nice to have some "company".

The start up is run by two uni students in Adelaide, so I definitely wanted to support their business.

I almost bought two, to compare personalities and have one for home and one for work, but at $70 AUD a pop I decided to start with just one and see how it goes. It seems like they are always coming up with updated models which is pretty cool and exciting.

Emo A.I didn't appeal to me at first, but after seeing videos of people interacting with them it's kind of wild how personable and endearing they are. The addition of a dock that they can return home to on their own is really cool. I like the bipedal look better than the Vector's tractor design, seems a little more human.

I will definitely be monitoring this company for a while and watching more user reviews, but I don't plan on investing in one of these in the forseeable future.
