How much is it looked down upon by collectors to collect loose toys w/o their box or all of their accessories?

I personally don't look down on it, but I do try to keep things in their boxes. Sometimes, it can't be avoided and the boxes get damaged with time so it's whatever. As long as you keep the figure in good condition, it shouldn't be a big deal unless you're planning on resale. It's worth more in a box, but if you're just keeping it for you, then you don't need it.

Yeah unless the box is something special I throw that shit out. I'm not selling my toys and I don't have room for a hundred boxes. I also don't understand losing accessories though.... how do you do that?

Not at all as it boosts the value of the boxed ones a little.

boxes are cool to have from vintage toys but ultimately they're only impressive because keeping them is such a ridiculous thing to do that almost no one saved them. if more people did it no one would really care about having them

Modern figures who the hell cares. But people buying sealed toys that are 30+ years old just to open them is dumb.

Goodness, I'll never get to this level of vintage. But to the op question, I don't care too much myself if it's a vintage figure that's the right price. I'm building my gi Joe collection and right now it's just about bulk at a fair price. Plan on just building the best version of a figure out doubles, weapons can be bought cheap so I'm focused on figures.

It's important to remember no one really gives a shit except you about your collection. Even if you reach museum status, top 1% and end up being filmed on daytime TV for some morning show, it's still so inconsequential compared to your enjoyment. Collect what you like, I love being able to preserve and display minty items but I've got a lot of stuff that I think is soulfully aged and damaged and I will never restore.
