/Bootleg/ General - Warp(ed) Magic Edition

No.10231234 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
A thread about bootlegs figures.

>What defines a 'bootleg'?
Typically these are illegal replicas of legit figures, sometimes by small businesses recasting parts while others are from factory workers making them off the clock to sell themselves. Others can even be legitimate 'factory rejects' that would have been thrown out due to mold defects or other manufacturing errors. Technically so-called '3rd Party' figures (such as not-Transformers figures) are a type of bootleg, but this thread is for under-the-table and other non-legit copies of figures not done by legitimate companies.

>Why buy bootlegs?
Less costly alternatives for custom fodder, some bootlegs are of decent enough quality to be a cheaper alternative for an overly pricey legit figure, cheap meme pics, and so much more.

>Where to get bootlegs?
AliExpress and Ebay are where many can be bought. Bootlegs tend to be much cheaper than the legit figure, make use of stock photos almost entirely, any in-hand pics show bad/worse paints and decals/mis-aligned joints/posed horribly/etc., and are almost always from some area of China, Taiwan, or other southeastern Asian countries (rarely from Japan or South Korea, though).

Post your findings, whether funny or worth buying, as well as any bootlegs you own.
