So I just got the Rat Rig Super Truck and am confused on the Bone Speeder. It's a variant of the Bone Shaker made for the tracks yet apparently Mattel can't make low profile OR6SP wheels resulting in the front wheels being wider than the body and that makes its intended purpose null, and as a result it can't even sit properly on the Rat Rig's trailer. I still like the designs on both but maybe I should've gotten the Desert Force and Hypertruck set instead.

thats why you collect 24's and bigger instead of 64's. once you get to 1/24 they stop being "toys" and start being "collectibles" (toys but my friends laugh at me for it so i call them collectibles).

Have you seen any 2023 mainlines in the pegs yet? Here in binland they're still stocking the M and N cases of last year. Both the Volvo gasser and the 300 SL are in the '23 A case, hoping to see those soon.

Shitaly here, resupplies in my area are very inconsistent but on xmas they restocked the toy isles and there was the '23 B case. Later there was a bin with last ones left, not stolen yet, from that case

Pick orange. White one looks like generic sedan. Orange is a rare 1st generation Dodge Charger. I've never seen diecast mold for this one. It's almost always 2nd generation instead.

I was thinking of copying the restaurants idea of having a shelf that goes around the border of the room up towards the ceiling, but in my garage. I think it would look cool having all those cars whenever I pull into the garage, plus they aren’t in the way.

I currently have around 30 or so and just have them in a warehouse rack that I put acrylic on. kinda ghettosolution but will come up with something else in the future. your idea is of course way cooler.

what sort of cars are they btw? for example I lost my tiny collection I had when I was a lil dude (which were mostly random cars I got as gifts for xmas, birthdays and such from relatives) but later as adult gradually got myself a collection almost purely consisting of scale cars I'm really really interested in.

it wasnt like that on my deora set (they were still melted though) but it was on my splittin images set. paint came right off. im thinking of replacing it and taking the old one to goodwill or something, but if i cant get a good set i wont bother.

'ere lads, someone able to point me in the direction of some quality E36 models? 1:18 scale or larger if possible. I'm not a diecast guy, but I love me an E36 (an any 90's era BMWs). I see UT ones around for $150, and Solido ones for $70ish, but I have no clue about the quality for the price, or if they are both crap and I need to look for out of production ones from another manufacturer

Sprayjobs can turn a model into an icky mess real quick if you don't know what you're doing. It shouldn't be too hard but I wouldn't do it if I wasn't 100% sure about my skills and the paint I'd use. There's a big chance that while the color now might be sorta better the finish could be completely different and jarring with the rest of the interior.
It's also available in other colors

Relatively comfortable with paint, especially if its plastic and removeable. Have all the airguns and kit from wargaming hobbies. But yeah, safe option is the MRain interior (which looks great!), cheers

Tomica Limited Vintage is a Imported Die-Cast car maker who does a phenomenal job of 1/64 scale recreations of cars. Actually I apologize some cars are 1/62, some are 1/70. But they are true to scale and incredibly well made and detailed. One drawback, the price. They aren't cheap. I have maybe 30 to 35 of them and a few normal Tomica Models. All of them have suspension, most have some kind of opening feature, and again amazing details. I have a Collector's Nissan GT-R and another Mazda RX-7, which I think is the one you showed. I have it packed right now, space restrictions. Since Hot Wheels and Matchbox seem to be nowhere here anyway, I've stuck to Tomica's and I am not going back. Scalpers charge $10.00 + shipping for a $1.00 car? Or even more? Nope, I'll spend the $20.00-$30.00 on a car that's WORTH IT!

Reminds me of that one hot wheels construction loader that they rereleased as matchbox once, then rereleased and retooled again as a hot wheels and the thing legit weighed 30% of the original tooling version

Just picked up a few cars from an estate sale. 50c a pop.
Learned about the Vector Avtech WX-3. Its kinda neat and I like the purple.
2 porches, the silver one is metal on metal.
I like '34 Fords a lot so I grabbed this one. It looks like an early 90s hot rod.
There were more but they seemed real cheap like. Like a kids meal toy. Some sports cars with knobby tires, bent axles, plastic on plastic, etc. All of them said Hot Wheels though. Did they used to be that cheap or were they not mainlines or something?

Bunch of cool cars on there, several I got too.
I've been wanting to do something like this. I have a small board that can hold maybe 30 like that. I want to make several that hold about 25-30 and are square. Rather than having a giant one to hold a ton of cars, I want it so that they can be moved around/arranged if needed.

The plastic cheapo ones were most likely Happy Meal toys. As far as I know Mattel hasn't ever released a plastic on plastic Hot Wheels unless it's a part of a motorized playset of something.

Anons who have downscaled your collections, how did you decide what to put away?
I'm nearing 1000 cars which of course isn't that much compared to what people have, but that flat number is making me think of what I really value and want to collect. I honestly like around 99% of my cars, and coming up with parameters to plan downscaling seems rather fruitless.

I reckon those are made by Centauria, Hachette made a 1/24 WRC series about 3 years ago. Both brands sell their models through newsstands I believe mainly in southern Europe. In Italy Each model is 25€ and comes out every two weeks or so until the collection is complete.
Since I don't know much about the quality standards of 1/24th scale, here's a forum where an user has posted photos of all the models up to the most recent one, so you can judge by yourself. The chemical you're looking for is acetone-free nail polish remover. That works everytime, perhaps too well even, if you apply it with too much force.
I recently read from some forum how some guy used a packaging peanut as a "sponge" to remove tampos. The idea was that with a q-tip it's easy to wipe the casting too forcefully and ruin the paint, but the packaging peanut dissolved into the nail polish remover fast enough so that you wouldn't damage the car while wiping.

Wheel trim chrome is even easier to remove. You won't even need nail polish remover or anything as radical. Sometimes your finger is enough, but if that doesn't work take a drop of hand sanitizer alcohol or similar and wipe wipe wipe. Wheel chrome comes of very easily.

You have 73/74 charger, because of rear roofline pillar. Other one is 71/72, different side window shape. There are subtle differences between 3rd generation Chargers, not as visible as differences between 68/69/70 tho.

Gave in and bought that Dodge. It was the last one on pegs, clearly waiting for me. Keeping decals, they will obviously wear out giving it cool destruction derby style looks as other anon suggests.
This is my 1st HW after 3 years gap. Reminds me of my old Yatming diecast from my childhood.

The Plano Model 5315. Currently this is marketed as the "Creative Options Thread Organizer". Some years ago they were marketed as "Jammers" which were intended for die-cast storage and could be found in the diecast aisle at Walmart. The mold has been modified slightly over the years, but it's essentially the same product. You can find them at craft and hobby stores.

They're the same brand to a point of basing new castings on each other's existing molds.
Matchbox is slightly more grounded and has more taillight/headlight tampos, but Hot Wheels generally has hotter cars, and has also began to include more realistic (relatively speaking) castings lately.

That's what I tend to do too. Sometimes there are original creations that catch my eye, but I usually only stick to licensed cars whenever I go do my groceries. There are days when I get the urge to look for cars, so I go to Targets and Walmarts in nearby cities. My recent hunting trips have come up empty handed, so I've been sticking to the usual grocery runs.

Quality wise they're perfectly okay for their relative price point, for me personally I think the castings are just a bit oversized. Majorette actually lists the actual scale for every model though, which is nice.

Matchbox tried with trains but due to the fact these are nowhere near standard H0 scale level of details people rejected them. Matchbox couldn't compete with proper model trains.

And noww, from also 1970-1980s proper H0 standard. H0 offers much more compatibility. The standard accepteed by multiple producers, all H0 trains are compatible with H0 tracks and cars. All of them have same way to attache them. Matchbox simply had no chance.

Most simple answer I can give is that Matchbox is focused on matching details that can be seen with the actual car while Hot Wheels exaggerates parts on cars to what eyes see on the actual car.

BUT now, hear me... imagine a line of the vehicles featured in the cartoon (many of which mattels already have), imagine hot wheels scalpers PLUS transformers ones. They should've just retooled Super Stoker for the Thomas promotion like they did the West Coast Flyer for id.

On that note, I loved the Rapid Transit line. The only problem was that the rolling stock was too "personalized".

I'd love to see Matchbox tackle trains, again; especially since they have those Action Drivers set. They could do a train station, a railyard, a dockyard railway, or a mine; and they could have pieces of track that can link the sets together. Plus, a nice selection of diecast trains for under $10.
