Would you pay big-bucks for SH monsterarts style dino-toys? Or any niche indie-toys in general for that matter?

Stumbled onto this while scrolling IG and think it's p.cool. All hand made by 1 or 2 guys though, so very expensive. Looks to BTFO other high-end articulated dino toys out in terms of sculpt and articulation though. Guy has an IG and Etsy shop under "Articfigures".

Yeah I dropped over 300 dollars on Beast of the Mesozoid Rexes and 3 x that on the Ceratopsians. Give me good articulated dino figs and I will buy them. I cant help myself.

His Rexes look about 20x nicer though. Yeah it's crazy money, but I dunno where else you can buy the same level for less.

I like Kaiju and dinosaurs a lot and I've both a few similar items in the past, but after I bought my own 3d printer I decided I was done with buying from guys charging way too much on Instagram and Etsy.

I do like them, but I'm probably not gonna buy anything. I'm not a big dino guy, closest toys I have are all Kaiju.

I do like saving pics of cool toys and posting them though.

Honestly if you know how to paint or just pay a customizer about $100 or 200, you can get similar results on lesser dino toys like the Hammond or Beasts ones
I guess the real draw is the articulation but I haven't seen these Artic figures' complete range of motion yet so can't compare them too well to other brands

That's like saying you get similar results to a shma if you paid a customizer to paint your Neca Godzilla. Not really. The sculpt and articulation are still well below par(well maybe not the paint because shma struggles there).

Also what's with everyone quoting the top price for the 1/18 scale painted male like it's the only option? Most of the tiers are 1/38(like pic related) and seem like a better deal. The 1/38th scale adults should be at least 16" long if I'm reading the info right, seems large enough to me.

The thing is that 1/18th of these ARE close to $800 whereas the 1/18th Hammond Rex is $50. That leaves you $700-ish dollars extra to buy mod kits or ask a customizer to resculpt and then repaint the whole thing. And it's not gonna cost you $700 to do that, really.
I just don't think it's worth it, I guess. If they had plans to mass-produce these, even if they had to lower the quality a bit and offer them at SHMA prices, then sure

That's by a different guy. His stuff is better painted and less expensive than Artic's. He's doing a Kenner juvenile t-rex next. I hope he gets to actual movie dinosaurs soon, not really interested in these toy remakes.
