A single set usually is just one small puzzle piece. Since it's Lego everything fits together. Every set give inspiration to build something around it. You can come up with lots of ideas until you have one big world.

It's not cost effective to build all the alts unless there's significant interest in that set, jang is right

I have AkroMils containers for my pieces. I'd buy more but scamflation has skyrocketed the prices of them from $25 to $50-80. For my manuals I just have em in ziplocs, others inside big Lego set boxes (like all my star wars manuals in the mos eisley box). I used to have a binder for my manuals but it just kept getting heavier and heavier with every new set.

No one in these lego threads is probably old enough to have built those harry potter spiral staircases, but in the picture they're actually mounted upside down and the hollow underside is filled with cheeseslopes to create texture. Very neat.

Classic has too many colours and not enough parts of each imo. For example I have 10698 and it has 5 shades of green, and one of those shades has only 4 parts in a 790 part set. Especially if you want to build in a retro style.
If you're okay with second-hand, you could shop around Facebook marketplace etc for bulk lots. I found one with plenty of basic bricks in the basic colours recently.

The ship's bow has a yellow thing that's probably meant to look like something but it's just a blocky mess. The black bar placed horizontally at the tip is clearly meant to have another sail (see attached pic) but lego didn't bother giving another cloth sail here. The platform on the stern lacks any stair connections with the main deck, unlike other ships of the pirate line. While you can't see it in the image, the space below the stern platform is also entirely wasted, whereas other lego pirate ships usually create a room out of it. The main deck feels really barebones with only a single cannon. I don't think the ship needs more cannons but I think they could have placed more interesting things on it.

I think those are the biggest flaws with it. I have minor gripes about the rear end, but that's probably more of a personal taste thing. I still love the ship to death though, and am thinking about doing a different ship with the same hull and sails.

Yeah something to do with EU regulations I believe. Basically means that all magnets that have appeared in lego sets recently have to be housed in impractical containers to prevent retarded zoomers from swallowing them together and fucking up their intestines'. On the topic of youtube, I've come to realize that I find less and less videos actually worth watching. The majority of videos released nowadays are either paid consoomer videos with midless hauls or videos from overly autistic shitheads that may be interesting at first but then become more and more insufferable you watch.
I'd say Jang, Robin Hood Bricks and Bevins are somewhere inbetween but it's getting fucking dire.

My gripe is: why are non-standard minifigs so lazy, held together with clips that crack, while actual minifigs can have really strong arm and head connections.
A minifig can move rotate its arm AND hands. A droid can only rotate the arm.
A minifig can stand and sit. A droid can only stand.

I think droid/cyborg minifigs need a redesign that gives them.

Planet Ripple whining about every pre-2010 or so set being un-PC is half the reason that channel sucks balls. Ditto with Slugger. Just2Good and any others who have a more neutral take or even outright defend themes such as Wild West and The Adventurers (my favorite sets as a kid) are worthwhile.

77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb

It's a remake of a set from 2008 — 7621. The set depicts the tomb from the first Indiana Jones movie, where the Ark of the Covenant was hidden. The set includes four minifigures : Indiana Jones, Marion Ravenwood in her torn dress, Sallah, and a (brown) mummy. The tomb consists of two rooms — the main one with the Ark of the Covenant, golden arches, and walls covered with (stickered) hieroglyphs. There are two cat statues in the middle, one of them covering a secret passage.
77014 Temple of Doom

Remake of a set from 2009 – 7199. The set includes six figures: Indiana Jones with an open shirt, Willie Scott, Short Round, Mola Ram, a Thugee cultist, and a Maharaja guard. In the middle there's a statue of a six-armed goddess, with a hatch for making sacrifices, and the whole build will be surrounded by tracks, on which there are two 2×4 mine carts. The background scenery of the build is basically just a rock.

The set will have a black frame as its base, like the ones from Star Wars dioramas, and include four minifigures: Indiana Jones (same as the one in 77013), Dr. René Émile Belloq with a revolver, a native with a printed loincloth on his legs and a necklace, and Satipo with a printed shirt and an interesting faceprint. The diorama consists of three parts: the entrance, the passage over the abyss, and the vault. The treasury includes a pedestal with a skull [the author confused the Idol with a skull, hence the confusion], and behind it there's a huge brickbuilt Idol face. The walls are brown and covered with weeds, and the whole thing is covered with a dome, at the top of which there's a light brick illuminating the Idol. Above the passage there is a ball made out of Technic pieces, and the whole tunnel uses grey pieces. The entrance to the cave uses dark orange pieces, with the addition of tan ones representing sand, and there's also a skeleton lying at the entrance.

Prince of Persia was pretty much the only time they did an "Arabian Nights" theme. The camels alone are highly-sought after collectors' items nowadays and the sets have very cool designs to them. A shame they run as much as many of the used sets from various 90s themes.

They used to make the legs out of soft plastic. The joints loosened, but could be bent back into place multiple times before the plastic stressed and snapped.

Why LEGO has gone to making so many clip components out of the same brittle ABS as components that take less stress I don't know.

Vidiyo was great as theme creativity and soul but doomed from the retarded app integration.
The app was ok on paper and horrible on practice. And theme playability was too binded to the app.
Even some fucking stages would gave been better than the app
The other issue was the boxed CMFs. Checking the correct minifig was a nightmare on Lego stores and impossible on the other ones

Kids today don't, to why nexo knights was the "middle ground" which failed because wave 2 was grey and purple all over, and every thing looked samey. Which is sad because wave 1 was awesome, and wave 3 was getting quite interesting imo. And adding the app to it adds an app tax to the sets that not everyone used, and nobody wanted to pay for functionality they didn't use anyways. Which gives lego more reason to cancel a theme for lower performance.

Honestly TLG are absolute clueless boomers on that front.
Though sometimes they do manage to make some sensible decisions. Lego Brawl is good, making a Smash Bros like game but with minifigs is a brilliant idea.
They should capitalise more on making videogames in some popular genres.
Heck, why not making a Ninjago hack'n'slash game in the style of DMC (kid friendly of course) with combos and shit?? Ninjago literally lends itself to that thanks to plethora of enemies, boss characters, weapons, elemental powers and the whole Spinjitsu martial art.

I’ve built 3 so far, the one fun and sole difference between each 16x16 section is how you choose to place the tiles in a way that is efficient and not frustrating.
At the end you build the rim, not much to say about it. It’s either a “one a day to not get bored” thing or a “i’m in a work call / i have to pretend i am listening so i’m keeping my hands occupied so i don’t fall asleep.
I have yet to take one apart but from what i heard it is a bit of a mess as the 1x1 parts tend to go everywhere, and then you will have to spend a few hours sorting the dots again. The message board dots set has a brick separator specifically made for small corrections too if you need it.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't tried a Battle Royal game like Fortnite, where you can use surrounding terrain (aka bricks) to build cover and instead of killing/eliminating opponents you have to "disassemble" them.

prioritise by part, not by colour. Organising by colour looks satisfying but if you're actually making a lot of mocs then it's a nightmare trying to find a tiny specific part in a sea of the same colour. In addition, I keep very small pieces in a separate set of smaller drawers to my larger pieces.

This has happened three fucking times in my last six orders. And inevitably all that happens is they refund that one part, never the "handling fee" that clearly went towards bugger all given they handled it incompetently. Then I have to put yet another order in elsewhere.

I do both too, for example I'll have a bag for 1 by something red bricks, and one for 2 by something black plates, and one for blue slopes. Less common parts I will store together regardless of colour, like a bag for wheels, a bag for hinges, etc.
