We could get rid of exclusives overnight if we just vowed to boycott stores that don't buy adequate ammounts of product.

We could boycott walmart for atleast a month and make ahuge impact.

exclusives exist in order to make a store order more units.
Sometimes they exist because no other store is ordering enough of the product.

If exclusives didn't exist, the toyline would be dead or dying. So whatever they're ordering is already the max of what they're willing to carry.

It's absolutely bizarre what they're doing with the DC Multiverse exclusives they get for example. Initially for Az-Bat and Parallax, they barely allowed online orders, they went up for like 30mins and were gone. Then they kept putting a few up at a time over weeks and they sold out almost instantly.

Then for the next 2 figures they keep teasing them by showing them at the top of searches for dc multiverse, but when you go to add them to your cart they're "out of stock", yet apparently are also in 200+ people's carts. Not to mention they're discounted to 15 bucks when they barely sold them online for 20. It's like the company doesn't care if it makes money off these or not.

Then there's the next 2 which maybe to suppress the angry online feedback through forms on their site (who knows), don't even have online listings at walmart.com and probably never will.

It's really true that when you're king of the hill in a market you dont have to give a fuck at all and can just do whatever you want and no one can stop you.

They likely don't, most of these novelty exclusives are just to drum up numbers in meetings to show a false sense of value or importance, it's why places like Walmart don't give a shit if they are hard to find/get.

I remember telling other collectors that this was doomed to happen back in 2007 when Kay Bee prices were getting higher. I told people I'm ok paying KB prices because it balances out with their discounts and items no other retailers had. This wasn't even me as a seasoned adult collector, but as a 14 year old going on forums.It was obvious that once Wal-mart cornered the market they would be worse, and saving $1 on a transformer would just fuck them over down the line.

Only time i really saw people buying shit from Walmart was when i was bored and looked into diecast car places. Everyone spoke about "Wally World" and thought it was one of the greatest places because of all the shit they could find there. Fly over states seemed great back then.
Didn't find out what Wally World meant until like 2014.

Fuck Walmart. Never liked them when they first started appearing in my area in the 90s and have probably spent a whole $500 in my lifetime. The few times i have bought from them was to get price matches for clearance shit at other stores. Got some great games that way when Circuit City was selling a mess of games for $5. PSO, Metroid, etc etc etc.

I'm starting to hate Amazon too, but they have second party stores there, so I'm unsure whether to or not. A lot of those second (and third) party stores have their own websites, and that's sad.
Amazon is worse than Walmart in a hundred more ways, since they affect more than just retail. Media, communications, shipping, etc.
