>>10246682>Do you think collectibles will be a nice invest/cash out in 50+ years. No, don't do it.
Honestly collecting anything (especially pop-culture collectables) as an investment to make profit on later is a bad idea.
It's hard to foresee what items will become valuable 50 years later and what items will be forgotten and cheap.
And as far as action figures go most of the time the best you can expect is buying a figure for $50 that 10 years later is worth $200 (I've ended up selling a number of items from my collection that went up in value in a similar way - but that still means you've got boxes of unopened figures taking up space for 10 years).
If you're honestly looking to buy something as an investment, probably go with gold, or coins or maybe fine art (but to get fine art that's at a price you can afford means guessing which artists might be valuable later which is basically gambling).
Also, as an add on, the reason people try to collect things like this to invest in is because of what happened with things like comics and baseball cards...The reason old comics are expensive now is because in the 30s, 40s ect they were made to be disposable and people threw them out or lost them of sold them in garage sales...(as mentioned above same with Kenner Star Wars figures), that's why there's so few left....but since the 90's people have known this so they started saving the ones that were being released during that time. Same with toys, it'd be very hard to find a specific toy from the 30s now, but in 50 years time, it will be easier to find a toy from the 90/2000s because collectors knew to save them.
If you brought yourself $10,000 worth of toys today, it'll probably be worth what, 15,000 in the future. I wouldn't bother with it.
