So my current plans to turn Jay's Titan Mech into an Exo-Force style robot so far are:
>Remove all the extraneous gold bits from the mech (Primarily the shoulders) with the sole exception being the "v-fin"
>Retool the shoulders so that they're thrusters with exhaust ports instead of missile launchers
>Remove the ponytail/redesign the back of the head (Nice idea, kinda meh execution IMO)
>Make the arms shorter by a brick or two so they don't have that Evangelion vibe to them.
>Keep the twin swords but change the hilt out from red to black, scrap the huge sword/save it for another mech
>Maybe tweak the front chest a bit, the shape is nice but I feel it could be a bit better, maybe even enclose the cockpit.

I've already ordered the parts for the changes to the shoulders, but I still wanna play around a bit before messing with the head to see what else I can do to it.

It's my set, I'm free to do whatever I want with it after building it. I just don't really care for the gold bits on the top half of the Titan Mech and wanted to swap them out for something else, and figured I'd make any other changes i wanted to make to it while I was at it.

Has anybody ever recreated the designs/prints for Ice Planet figures digitally?
I'm able to find the blonde lad's face alot and sometimes Commander Cold's face, but never the redhead lady's face or any of their torso designs. Worst-case scenario, how do I go about ripping the textures outta Stud.io?

Make it a Hayato/Hikaru mech

The people who like it seems to just be Nintendo or Mario enjoyers.

Also the Atari looks like a much better set. Still overpriced but it comes with a fig, a mini build inside the console, 3 different mini builds based on a game, a holder for the brick built cartridges, and the stickers have those awesome graphics of Atari covers in Lego style.

Also the whole Mario-app-required stuff is so bad. I only got the Luigi's mansion stuff because the parts are good for MOCs and the ghosts are good for my Ghostbusters stuff plus Luigi is based.

Maybe it's all ok for kids, but for man children such as myself (and literally the Nintendo audience is mostly 30-50 year olds since most kids rather play on their phone or PS/Xbox) it just doesn't do anything for me. Like it's cheaper and more accurate to just get those Jakks Mario figures. Or better yet drop some shekels on those cool K'nex Mario figs.

I don't have anything organized right now but these are my sets just from the last few years since getting back into Lego and Jabbas Palace moc. I don't want to collect the yearly Xwing or anything like that. Just want classic trilogy stuff and then I want to make some moc dioramas. Have an old snowpseeder on the bottom and the ATAT on the floor atm. I have more figs through the years tho, some prequel and sequel figs.

The blindboxes (and conkdor) are unironically the best thing from the theme. The NES and Bowser both seem pretty neat, and even if the NES reflects its price tag, the price tags are still to high.
The actual sets are play sets for kids, so while I don't particularly like them, I'm not gonna knock Lego for focusing on kids and playing instead of sets which exist for the sole purpose of heckin afol reddit updoots

maybe it's because i got this set as a gift but i liked it. the way that you fold out all the micro dioramas is neat and there's a nice level of detail to each one. i get that people don't like that the block design isn't the one from mario 64 but it's the one most people are going to recognize on a shelf as "the mario block"

Looks like it's that long piece of rubbery cord they use for Jurassic Park fences. The ones with the bar sized loops on both ends.

I don't disagree with them making it a play set but I wish they kept it mini figure scale. Like we could of gotten entire levels as box sets instead of one small 10 second section of a level since it's inflated in size, or a random ? box with 3 entire levels in micro scale, it just all seems like a missed opportunity.

Keep checking Walmart/Target ect to put shit on clearance/sale, I got a couple of pic related at Walmart last year for 33 bucks each and you can't beat 1500 new bricks for 33 bucks. Another thing to keep in mind is that Lego original themes are cheaper per brick then something they have to pay a license for so avoid license shit like starwars and marvel, ect and look at sets like the creator 3 in 1 because they have more bricks per dollar and if you can find one of those on sale then that's probably you're best best.

I just don't feel anything when I see prequel sets. The designs and characters just don't look as iconic as the original trilogy. It doesn't help that prequel stuff is basically just Clone Wars series pandering now.

The anons applauded and became Castle and MOCchads sworn to defend the integrity of Lego Castle themes and accepted King Leo as their rightful ruler and overlord. because Nexo knights was trying to be the next ninjago, it had castle themes. It went more fantasy than castle did imo, gargoyles, demons, lava monsters, etc...
I would argue it is a Castle theme as far as Castle theme is a fantasy theme.

I wish I bought more, when I found it last year they had a stack of like 20+ in the clearance section and I bought 3. Ended up shipping one to the sister in law kids which left me with two. Currently there's this set which is currently on sale and looks to be the best price per brick you'll get now a days especially with Lego increasing prices all around however there's always a chance they reduce it another 5 or 10 dollars so this is the set I'm currently keeping a eye on.

I went to my closest Lego store the other day and there was a line to get into the store (??????). i asked the guy and he said it was unusually busy but they've been really busy this year. Are there just more people getting into lego now and thats why it was busy? I suppose the store is pretty small in the mall it was in, but it was really shocking to wait in a line. The guy working there mentioned some Nissan set came out though and he had to turn people away because they were sold out of it.

I bought the Birdhouse set and browsed around at the other new things. It was the first time being in the store since Pre Covid, and the wonderful lady at checkout mentioned a "birds nest" coming out next month. Are there any other birds coming out besides this one? I missed out on those great Ideas I think set that came out a while back though

It's gotten more popular since 2020 but Lego stores tend to have queues because the company still enforces Covid-style customer limits within their stores (probably more to do with theft than anything).
The $25 Nissan Speed Champions set is hugely popular but it was a January 1st release.
As for birds, yeah there's a $10 birds nest coming out in two days as the Easter set and in March they're bringing out a Creator 3-in-1 Parrot. Also, the Creator 3-in-1 bunny rabbit set that came out on the 1st has a cockatoo as the B model.

i work in a lego store and it's not because of covid it's actually because the employees and costumers need to be able to move around the store comfortably and also to help with the air since atleast in mine the aircondition is awful and if there is too many people in the store it gets really hot and it gets hard to breathe

We only get shitty generic trains every 5 years in city, Lego had the chance to give us a beautiful model of the Hogwarts Express, but deliberately made it oversized and incompatible with standard gauge Lego trains, in an act of sabotage. honestly, that much lego makes me have anxiety. It's like, once you have gone all-in on a hobby like lego to the point you have an entire room with shelves upon shelves of sorted lego pieces, not to mention the hundreds if not thousands of hours it takes to sort and organize all of that, what happens if one day you lose passion for it?

But even building something like this, tens of thousands of pieces, and if you ever want to use those pieces on something else, you have to spend HUNDREDS of hours just disassembling and sorting all of those pieces back into the bins that they belong before you can start building something else. It just seems like a nightmare. I always wonder what people that build these gargantuan builds do with them once they want the pieces for other stuff.

This is why whenever I've made my own stuff, it's usually smaller, just a single vehicle or building and once I've grown tired of displaying it I just disassemble with ease in a few hours.

Is a 500€ budget enough to get a good collection from scratch of all purpose pieces for small mocs so that I won't be constantly wishing for pieces I don't have? I'm thinking of sticking to mostly black, white, light and dark grey, brown, tan, red, blue, green and then just a small amount of yellow,.orange, purple and pink, I think it gives off more of a classic aesthetic when you don't throw in a million different specialized shades.

They might be printed, they have used stickers for promo shots before before they had the pieces printed properly. Since the chevron piece on tge side of the cockpit has a pattern on the box but not in the set photo I assume this is an early draft.

I think the issue lies in ol' reliable: between an original idea that can sell modestly well or a licensed IP that could sell gangbusters, they'll always default to choosing that IP now. Like sure, I get it for business but it's just a shame when they could easily pull together some basic ideas like yours and do well.
There's a reason people still get starry eyed over the basic shit of pirates, castle, hell even simple to understand premises of things like Rock Raiders or the space themes. They had a cohesive identity and they ran with it.

CCBS wasn't the problem. It worked well enough for Hero Factory, with Breakout being one of the strongest waves of the theme. Bionicle G2 suffered from poor marketing, and Star Wars ate shit due to the creepy uncanny human figures going unsold. That was pretty much the final nail in the coffin and killed constraction for good.

it's already going to be overpriced, I don't think it needs another $50 added on for extra leaves that you can barely even see in the game
it's not 100% accurate but it's clearly meant to represent the OoT version, it even comes with kid link. the prototype doesn't necessarily reflect the final version either
