1/18: 3.75 inch figures. Small but easy to collect and don't take up too much self space. Classic GI Joe/Star Wars size. There's like 2 varieties, 5POA and normal articulation. 5POA is the classic form of articulation of action figures, very limited. Normal is just typical articulation.
1/12: 6 inch scale, one of the most common scales today used by both western and Eastern companies. Often 6 inches tall, you won't find much cloth on these. Common brands include Figma, SHF, Mezco, and most Hasbro Action figures. Depending on the company these range from 20-100 bucks, the more you pay the better the quality.
1/6: Big 12 inch figures, often expensive but with pretty great detail. You're gonna need a big wallet and plenty of room. These are the figures you'll often see cloth on, as it doesn't look too out of place. Well known brands include Hot Toys, Medicom and DYNACTION.
There are other scales too like 1/9 but honestly who uses those lol
