>>10281482I'm the guy you're replying to and it's multifold:
1) no matter what toys are meant to be played with. Looking at them is cool but nothing can match picking them up in your hands, messing about with them, moving them around, using some action features if they have them etc.
2) toy packaging is a lost art form. It got worse and worse over time and I'd argue that 95% or more of current toys have useless, ugly packaging that has no value in any shape or form beyond getting it out to the buyers. The only things with good packaging these days are repro/homage packages of stuff from 30+ years ago, some super high end boxes(which are usually thoughtfully designed to encourage unboxing and reboxing) and then things like super7 where the packaging is generally the entire point and the figures are lazy afterthoughts.
I love fun packages, but most toys even back in the day didn't have worthwhile boxes, and those that did still were better off opened.
To be more direct, the original JP packaging was not that great. It was better than what we have now, but outside of the classic logo and some complimentary colors there's not much going on compared to something like Dino Riders, which keeping the boxes for actually makes sense(still would take out the toys though). Like that TLW thrasher is one of the best dino toys of all time, but the box is just an open green box. Who cares dude? I'm not trying to take your joy away, you asked for an explanation and this is it. The box is lame and you would have more fun with it out of it. If you already have one out then different story I guess, but I just assume you're saving it for money at that point.
