G1 talked jive but he typically does talk with some black soul mannerisms and has typically been fixated on human culture and entertainment. Mirage never has been like this. From what we've seen in the trailers so far, "Mirage" is demonstrating more Jazz-like personality traits and mannerisms than Mirage ever has, plus he shares Jazz's alt mode and his color scheme and paintjob is much more reminiscent of what Jazz typically has. Much like the Blitzwing situation, this looks much more like a character who was planned to be a familiar character but was changed to be somebody else to fit with Bay canon and given somebody else's name because that character hasn't been used yet.
>>10278688>>10278765The visor is pretty Jazz-like, as is the comparative stockiness relative to his on-screen counterpart, as is the wider fully horizontal vehicle chest. Sure, it could technically be anyone, but I see more elements befitting a movie-style iteration of Jazz in the SS figure. That may be more of a confirmation bias because the Porsche puts Jazz on the brain, because yes, technically most movie design characters differ so wildly that they could be anybody you want them to be, but if you showed me the toy's bot mode and asked me what G1 character he might be, I'd still likely lean towards Jazz more than anyone else and I certainly wouldn't expect Mirage.
