I think it's because you can still actually see that they're toys and that someone is showing their creativity with THEM. While people who do all that fancy shit make them barely even look like toys anymore, so why would someone want to look at them when they can look at actual artwork instead of something that will always be limited by its articulation. That's just me.

It's called building up a following. 50% of them will like whatever shit you post. If you have 2 followers then you will only get 1 like for the best photo ever.

In contrast someone like this can post an actual dog shit and itll get 15k likes.

It's the same with youtubers. It's about building up subscribers/fanbase. Not necessarily the quality of your content.
