Because it was trying to make lego blocks into action figures of people where Bionicle was making Lego blocks into action figures of wierd alien robot skeletons. One was a much more interesting and original concept than the other.

They were only good for a few technic compatible parts. mainly the swords and those gold armor pieces you see every so often. the rest was only really useful in their own theme.
