In order to make something, there must be a MINIMUM produced. The first time the Barge was produced 5,000 was that minimum production number.
Even though all the molding was paid for, minimum production numbers would still be in the thousands.
And how many people are there willing to order it the second time? In many cases, it's a fraction of hte first time, because everyone who really wanted it already bought it the first time. So the amount of people who want a second run is usually way below the MINIMUM needed to cover costs (if you want it the same price as the first run).
If there's so few people wanting books/movies/games reprints despite them costing $8-20, there's even fewer people who have $400-500 to spend on a giant coffee-table sized toy.
Obviously, there are times there is demand to warrant reissue, because enough people express their interest directly to the producer/creator/distributors/vendors.
So if you really want it, don't waste your time bitching on forum. Say it directly to the companies who sell that shit.
