Hell yeah, my dream line is articulated versions of the original (Diaclone, Microchange, etc) designs that can fit dianaut/headmaster sized drivers. I love the nonstandard proportions.

There was a bit I'd want but nothing I was tripping over myself to get. In the end I just picked up Studio Series Crosshairs, an the Tarantulas and Armada Starscream figures. I'll probably wind up with Tarantulas in some Buzzyworthy 4 pack later but eh, the Beast Wars character is lucky I felt generous this time.

So what other things would even be in Studio Series game version? All the games I can think of before WFC were based on an existing series. Maybe you could get a couple generics out of the movie-based games. Megatron X from the Beast Wars Transmetals game seems like it might happen if they do a Transmetal Megatron in the whatever that series is being called in the future, but also is kind of redundant with Dragon. And Nova Prime from Devastation feels like a waste instead of doing the main version. Wait a second, the Transformers Prime video game had Thunderwing with a distinct design that wouldn't overlap when they get around to making G1 Thunderwing in another line.
If games that died in development count, Duststorm from Universe simply because makes my dick hard, but that game had extremely bullshit designs and she is basically just "girl Swindle" so I don't think they would bother.

but theyyy did not. at all. they obviously designed generic limb-blocks first, then slapped vague dino features on them. as bad as the original dinobots were, they have a charm and they look like the (oldtimey versions of) the dinos they're supposed to be.

It’s the color of the plastic, it’s far too bright and saturated. The plastic makes WFC Prime look like he belongs in Mainline ROTB rather than Studio Series: Gamer Edition. A Takara Premium Finish release would do the mold a world of good.

therizinosaurs are really hard to pull off satisfyingly due to their weird ground-sloth-ass body type.. but it'd be good for a combiner since most of the body mass is concentrated at the hips. and the claws could fold up against shoulders or something.

these days, you draw more like the shape of the baymovies matrix of leadership, where the tail is high and the head is low, but that still looks cool and the back is still high and arched. it just turns the whole animal into a roundhouse-tail-slap machine

hmmm seems like it was their attempt to mimic the striping he had on the show which.. was really not so much 'different color' as 'different reflectivity' so it only showed up in certain lights.. ehhh.. it's still better than the Kingdom one. Transformers Generations Titans Return Wolfwire

That's a weird name for a wolf.

Like a lot of robotic animal toys Weirdwolf inevitably gives off some major Zoids vibes.
The big gun on his back helps see to that.

The yellow, blue, and cream colour scheme works better than I think it would have if you had just told me about it.
The missiles or gunbarrels or whatever in the shoulders are a highlight.

What else needs highlighting is the clear read plastic. Properly used as an insert in the wolf head and cockpit. Those aren't huge pieces of red painted yellow and white. The little bit they added to the wolf cheeks look great.
Actually, you might be able to see it, the hinge of the cockpit cracked just now as I was playing him. Like right before I took this picture, but it cracked on the yellow plastic and not the clear red.

Transformation is about as polished as you can ask the standard beast standsupformation to be for a deluxe toy.

I've always been a fan of the Headmasters so Weirdwolf here is a win in my book, the robot just looks cool.
Something strange that I totally forgot about this toy is that his chest can fold down. This would be to reveal a SPDSTRINT panel but there isn't even a mock one to see.
Any baby collectors in here can go look up what that is themselves.

Not super in love with the all red face. A little separation between the face and the visor would go a long way.
For whatever reason his head was crazy stuck on when I started messing with him. I yanked poor head guy's legs off a few times trying to uproot him.

Wolf tail becomes a sword.
Wolf gun becomes a gun.
His gun has some funny little notches on the handle that only let you put the peg halfway into his fist for fear of flexing the fingers
The sword has a handle that's twice as long as it needs to be.

Articulation I've got few complaints about.
The head and waist swivel nicely.
The shoulders are balljointed so they can't go outwards very far. Elbows bend 90 degrees and have a swivel cut just above. No wrists here

Hips are ball jointed and properly cut for full outwards motion.
Thighs swivel, the right side one on mine was a bit mishapen and liked to pop out, we've all had a toy like that. So I shaved it down a bit and now it works fine.
And Weird Wolf's feet are ball jointed, mostly for swiveling not a lot of tiltability

I found these two in a clearance aisle at a walmart for $6 each. Nightprowler's the first time I got the mold so it's pretty neat to finally know what it's like to fiddle around with it. Transformation was cool to do, it was more simple than I expected. Probably my favorite thing about the figure. Sandstorm shares Scorponok's mold, which I also am playing with for the first time. He is about as dynamic as the shape of his torso and his transformation is present.
I like Nightprowler, definitely worth the 6 bucks. I also like Sandstorm, he feels like he's literally worth 6 bucks

This picture does an okay job at expressing my sentiment towards these figures. It also reminds me that along with these two, there was a third figure selling for $6 which was a second Sandstorm, only it looks like he was missing his head. Another thing, I should mention Nightprowler had a little tab behind the cheetah head that just fucking bent 45 degrees the moment I popped the head out for the transformation, so I guess I really fucked up what I thought was a pretty simple step. I then thought "fuck it" and just snapped it off. Doesn't seem to matter all too much anyway

When I realized it was bent and had a stress mark that basically turned half the tab about 50% white I frantically analyzed the instructions to spot if the tab was actually there, only to not see anything. I remembered it a bit differently but looking at this and where it's placed relative to where the tab would wind up when the cheetah head is transformed, it looks exactly like a spot a tab could slip into to hold the cheetah head in place. Otherwise, it seemingly just does nothing of note

When trying to pose him holding the weapon normally I saw he could do a decent job at looking like he'd holding the weapon with both hands and I just thought of him as a samurai since the poses he pulled reminded me of them. So now I can think of him as a samurai who wields a golf club as his weapon of choice thanks to this

it's a less radical change in source design philosophy
unicron trilogy stuff was fairly blocky and/or relatively simple to transform, so you don't really need to re-invent the wheel to make starscream's legs fold up
prime on the other hand was pointy and more fiddly with a good amount of panels lining up juuuust right, so carrying that engineering scheme over is more trouble than it's worth (fiscally)

Like Teostra and Lunastra could probably be done by geting the Legacy Leo Prime and adding wings to it. Cheetor could work as a base for Odogaron or Lunagaron, and there's definitely stuff you can do with Transmetal Megs, Kushala springs to mind, but Valstrax would probably look cool as fuck. You could...probably do a Legiana out of Terrasaur as well? To say nothing of Rakna-Kadaki and Tarantulas.

MH has some easier-to-transform guys, who would be way more interesting, but you know they would stick with the wyverns because that's their bread and butter and companies are total morons that way.. man imagine that fuckin platypus guy Yotsumiwadou as a Rhinox-esque transformer. do want.
But Yatsukadaki with Tarantulas's transformation scheme? that wouldn't work for beans.. the vast majority of the body mass is in the four legs, those would be hanging off of the arms.

Maybe? Sandstorm/Scorpinok could work if you retooled the tail as the head perhaps? We haven't had a spider monster for a while so it'd be a shame not to try and do RK when we've got two arachnid transformers right there in production.
Hopefully Capcom wouldn't insist on shoehorning Magnamalo in, there's fuck all that could make that work, the Tail needs to be fucking massive for a start, and there's nothing in the line that even comes close to that without have to just do partsforming or something.
At least Malzeno could probably work as a Transmetal Megs retool.

I can't make out the smaller three, but just going by the robot mode and the bottom-most vehicle mode, I'm barely seeing any shared parts
it looks like the Green Ranger shield on the hood of the buggy becomes his chest, but the 'wings' disappear.. the car's kinda engine-things appear to be his shins, which would make them positively tiny so I guess those are cheated bigger.. plus somehow two wheels migrate under there? looks like his cockpit goes on his back.. No idea what forms the arms, or where the other two wheels end up. he seems to have shoulder rocket pods, where those are in buggy mode I can't tell.. nor can I figure out where the front fenders go. this feels like complete bullshit to me. is one of those pictures a rear view of the buggy mode?
from what little I can see of the .. cool-scifi-airship mode, the gold 'wings' just magically fold up around the cockpit with no visible joint, and those dinky thrusters from before are now gigantic. Yeah this is cheats galore. This is Saberlord's Scritchascratch Cakemonger the Cheat

the 2023 version is closer to game but the torso-legs-head ratio is off. The head is too small (or the torso is too big). The legs are also too short.

2010 is not as accurate but overall it is more visually balanced.

I have preordered the 2023 version, but for all the hype I am slightly disappointed.

Why would they? Hasbro is going to replicate the gimmick of the arm transforming into the weapons like it was in the games. They did that with Acourge from RotB so I guess they're going to try and replicate that with SSWFC toys. Only question is if the weapons are cross compatible between classes, I can imagine Bumblebee and Barricade's weapon being interchangable but not sure if Optimus can join in on the fun.

Dual wielding looks like it's possible. Would cost more to mold 2 different limb joints rather than potentially mirror them or whatever. And FoC introduced the ability to swap weapons on either arms and they'll most likely be in Studio Series as well. So it's most likely they can dual wield.

So, I opened my legacy metropled because I thought the ankles were too weak. Before I did anything I noticed the ratchet was broken, right on the middle of the side. It doesn't seem like it impacts the toy, but isthis something I should return it? Since it's not cracked at the corner I'm not sure if a return is necessary but I'm not sure if this is an issue when moving the ankle.

Yeah no dual wielding is impossible, you can see here especially on the back elbows that the right arm has the weapon connection but not the other arm. At least the weapons are all interchangeable despite the size.

I wish, they can only be gun arms so no duel wielding and no other figure can use them. It just limits their play value for no reason. If they wanted to commit to it so badly, I wish both arms had the gimmick.
