>1/6th used to be reserved for only big name characters
>Hot Toys blew up and they became "grails", doing classic movies, vidya icons and the such in ultra realistic (for their time, they kept advancing anyhow) fashion
>ffw some years and they're doing Marvel, DC and Star Wars exclusively, but still, mostly the protagonists and the classic stuff, Wolverine, Superman, Iron Man, Vader, etc
>ffw some more years
>they're now putting out a figure every week, and since they have to keep up with the sheer output they're making D-List Marvelslop since all their A-Listers are gone and X-Men are ways off
>Star Wars is in the gutter and while we'll never get Exar Kun or Mara Jade, we're getting a Paz Vizla rerelease barely a year after his release
Pic related was the last straw for me. The fuckers didn't release any of the great Doctor Strange variant looks from MoM, but they're doing these fucks. This whole team costs about 1.5K. Imagine that, 1.5K dropped on near-identical plastic soldiers from a shitty cartoon that'll end up in the bargain bin 3 months after their release. But they keep wasting time and resources on this nonsense while the figures who do deserve to get made, suffer. They're tanking the entire market for no good reason. We buy 1/6th to have "grail" representations of our most favorite characters, not grab every C-Lister ever. Who the fuck will fondly remember the Bad Batch a decade from now and go
>ah yes, Indiana Jones, my childhood hero, the Terminator, my prized 90s X-Men line up, and the Bad Batch, truly the best of the best!
I hate this nonsense. Even 300$ collectibles have turned to toyslop.
>inb4 statues
I don't like the flat painting and lack of mixed media materials. And they're suffering from the same problem. Prime 1 and everyone else are dropping these 1K-2K statues based on some "artistic interpretation" of some some AU design of Superman from some event that's already been forgotten. It's as if they're deliberately tanking the entire industry.
