However, similar to my previous Majorette Dodge, this one also lacks chrome bumpers. Is it normal that 70 Years Anniversary one has plain plastic chasis while standard one comes with nice chrome? Or are there different versions but I could not see through the box? Does anyone have 70 Years Anniversary edition with chrome?

I like hot wheels, and building model cars and rc cars, and I can understand their hobbies and communities, but I do not understand how there's a giant community just for the larger scale diecast model cars. Not model cars you build and paint yourself, but the 1:24 ish scaled zinc bricks.

I worked at a toy collectable and consinement store for years, and all the time we would get these middle aged mexican dads trying to make a fortune off of their collection which takes up an entire uhaul truck, and would get mad when we explained to them that they weren't worth anything. A dollar each at the most, but these guys always wanted retail prices or whatever the highest bid they happened to find on ebay for them.

Chrome just seems to be something that Matchbox can't be arsed to do on all of their cars anymore. Stuff in solid colors seems more likely to get chrome, but anything with lots of tampo work seems to get stuck with plain plastic; or at least that's what I've noticed on the cars I've seen.

Luckily chrome pens exist now, I would recommend molotow liquid chrome pen with the 1mm nib, as its a near perfect mirror chrome paint, and its small enough to paint over the tiny details without obscuring them in blobby paint.

I think so. I think Anniversary one is supposed to be restomod. Orange Charger is classic factory car which came with classic come. Anniversary one is obviously custom, with custom paint pattern and wheels.

Also many people remove chrome from their restomod cars to give them mean look as opposed to classic vintage feeling. I believe 70 Years Anniversary could be inspired by this one. Note de-chromed trim and bumpers.

Other than that, I'm not sure about Matchbox, but sometimes Hot Wheels release same model with come and with plastic. Maybe there are two versions of this Matchbox one as well?

Thanks guys. I thought it is strange that a special Anniversary edition seems to be more 'on budget' than standard edition. Still nice we finally got 1966 Charger. I already had Hot Wheels 1967 one. Now I'm missing only 1968, 1972, 1973 to finish all classic Dodge Charger collection.

Its like one of those fine black lining art pens, with a small stiff brush tip. And you use it more like a brush, where you glide it over a surface, not pressing it down like a ballpoint pen. The paint flows really easily, so it takes a little practice, if you pause too long on a spot, the paint can start to bead and run.

Oddly specific. I think 1972 is same as 1971, and 1973 is basically Rodger Dodger so they will never make it. There was 1974 one but it's NASCAR.

The RD-02 is probably your best bet. Over half of the Racing Drone cars casting have retired. From memory only RD-02, RD-03, RD-05, RD-08 and perhaps the RD-10 are the ones still being made. If you're wondering if they ever show up on the pegs then doubtful, all their recent releases has been in special packaging's like Colour Shifters or 5-packs etc. A damn shame almost half of the Acceleracer casting has been retired. There's a lot of good designs from that line that I think should get a reissue like Reverb or RD-01. Not to mention CM6 wheels have returned sorta.

I have a theory. Since this is 70 Years special, it may be they didn't want to use chrome because chrome wears off. These special anniversary cars are sometimes designed more as collectors items rather than kids toys and it would be easier to preserve it in mint condition with plastic chasis than risk chrome wearing off after few years.

Every single one I found i9s plastic bottom. I don't think there is chrome bottom one. Other anons are probably right. While orange Charger comes with chrome the Anniversary one has printed body so they don't use chrome base for that.

Shame. I'd love to see Anniversary one with chrome base swap.

Then this anniversary Dodge is different. Side decals and rear taillights decals with C H A R G E R text on it. No front decals as it's just plastic grille. I also have Majorette Dodge with side, front and rear decals.

No wait, I misremembered the name. It was called the Jaw Jammer in the show and IIRC the designer team loved the bike design so much they were able to convince management to make it a real toy but only after AcceleRacers was over so it was called Airy 8.

I was really excited when Diora 3 was announced, and I'm still dissapointed with it. It just feels incomplete and lazy, like the designer got half way done with it, and mattel just scooped it off of his desk and put it into production while the designer stood there with his mouth flapping like Melvin trying to explain that its not done yet.

I thought it was just the silencers arc to wrap up the story and beat the badguys. Supposedly the fourth movie was completed and aired on CN, but after that it was never released and no one happened to record it.

There were only 4 movies and a bunch of online shorts in between movies. The last film ends with both teams working together and Vert getting sent to the Silencerz base where it’s revealed his dad was running them.
At that point, the realms didn’t really matter because Vert had all the accelechargers with him

There's a big reason spectyte, chicane, rd-08, piledriver, etc are all dumbass expensive. They got short packed into late wave cases that retailers turned away because they had 50 ratifieds rotting away. Same thing happened with the entirety of the 2006 releases, with only places like kohls, Kmart, and some pharmacies taking them. They never made it to Wally world or target because it all sold like straight ass. All of this shit is mad easy to find in Europe, Indonesia, Brazil, etc because it all got dumped there. Hell, even most of the 2003 highway 35 rares were common in Europe because they all got dumped there.

Yes and no. it's the biggest unofficial. The second largest is the Diecast Discord, which has 1.4k. There's an official Mattel discord that has like 10k. Hw discord has have ~3k. Mattel discord is basically only filled with nft crypto bros, which is fine if you're into that sort of thing. But even then, they have silly rules like no cursing (which their own mods break, btw), and have banned some hw discord admins for notifying them about known child groomers. Ymmv.

Does Mattel ever do rolling test for their Premium cars? Because jesus christ so many I've bought recently have this odd problem of the wheel rubbing itself on the wheel well because it's so damn close to it. I don't expect them to roll as well as mainline cars with their plastic wheels because they're not meant to but I want them to at least roll well. Is it just me who's getting this problem?

I have a bunch that were hand-me-downs from a much older cousin. I don't know that I'd pay ebay prices for them, but I love the ones I have, especially that Porsche 917.

Fun fact about that particular casting; it was based on the original model of the 917 before everyone realized what a death trap it was. It killed some drivers before they redesigned it, because nobody had really learned how important "downforce" was in relation to horsepower. That's why pretty much every other casting you'll see has a completely remodeled back-end.

as soon as models get too detailed with little finicky vac metalized bumpers and plastic transparents lights that bend all over the place it stops looking good as looking "real" stops looking and feeling good as a metal toy, and just generally feels more tacky and unnecessarily spacious.

I have some old bigger cars but honestly only for sentimental value of family.

I actually enjoy the simple wheels and liberties taken with proportions.

I don't see much JL in my local stores and there's rarely even peg space for them. Heck, I barely see Matchbox or Hotwheels outside of peg warmers. As it is, if there's any car I specifically want, I have to figure out it exists and then hope to find it on ebay for a decent price. It's even harder to do that with JL given how much less exposure they have overall.

Plus, I enjoy fantasy castings, and JL doesn't really do those anymore.

The Moving Parts line and by extension, the MBX Collector series, is filled with castings that they cut a ton of corners on, just for some poorly fitted moving part. Some of the MBX Collector cars, like the Diablo, don't even try to pretend that they're "premium" level castings. They're basically overpriced mainlines with a fancy decorative box.

It's the reason why I don't really care much for them. Way too much cost cutting.

It’s not a swap meet without this guy. There is always one of these guys, has been for 20+ years. You will notice this guy rarely sells anything and will wheel out the same crap at every swap meet. I still see guys like this trying to sell mainlines they bought 10 years ago that no one wanted them and still don’t want now.

I also bought a bag of cars for 2 bucks at a garage sale, I only wanted one of them, but I got that exact same white middle one, though it’s pretty well played with. I parked it in my garage rafters along with the other junk cars I accumulate

No, you're right. I've definitely come around to them. They are excellent wheels for that particular application, especially in gold.

Only shitty thing about them is that the gold foil seems really chintzy. I've hardly handled this at all, it's mostly been sitting on my desk at work since I took that first pic, and it's already flaking off around the edges.

Foil painted wheels in my experiences don't hold up well. I remember barely touching the wheels on the GT Hunter from the action 5 pack last year and it already flaked off the blue foil fast.

ended up getting all 4 boxes for $15. Wasnt to hopefull though cause I thought it was mostly all mustang shit but I was wrong. First box is hot wheels and matchbox from mid 90s to mid 00s. All kinds of cool shit. The packages are fucked with mold and rat shit but I open all my models anyway

Definitely a hell of a deal. The guys at the counter got a pretty good kick out of them when I brought them in. Guess they aren't to used to selling toy cars. They didn't even go through them, just said they were mine for $15

Im thinking the owner was using the car as storage and lossed the keys/passed away or something and the car was scrapped. I had to cut and pry open the trunk because it was locked so I assume I was the first one in there since they had been put in there.
