I'm still annoyed my favourite live action optimus design only has a figure based on concept art, so the details aren't accurate. Really hoping a Cybertron version gets made, though I'm not sure how they'd pull it off.

His MP got fucked too, my current rep for him is the threezero DLX figure.

Finally seeing new stuff, so I know both skull grin and point blank have issues but both look really cool to me. Suggestions on which one first? Point blank is so unique id enjoy having two so I could display both modes, hopefully I can grab another layer this year.

If they're as stupid as I think they are, they may be trying to keep this in continuity with the bay films (which do have a weird and warped sense of continuity) and since Bay Jazz is more thug, he wouldn't match this character.

Fuck I hate the Bayverse, Bumblebee gave me hope for a future of good Transformers movies and them nope they consciously go backwards. IMHO The Cybertron fight scene was better than all the action shots in the Bay movies combined.

Even though this new series of films starting with the Bumblebee movie was advertised as a reboot, I think Paramount and Hasbro want to keep their options open. It's the same reason why Megatron's whereabouts are still seemingly unknown even though Travis Knight wanted to use Megatron in the opening battle on Cybertron in the Bumblebee movie.

The first movie is better than Bumblebee and is one long fight scene. Even has a great scene with scorponok hunting soldiers in the desert like a horror movie. I got Titan Legacy Metroplex and I believe the Nemesis is on the box so it'll probably resemble that. It's a bit more rocket like than I'd like, I think my Mental image of it is from BW or FOC, I barely remember what it looked like in the g1 cartoon other than it being purple.

It looks like they looked at Bumblebee and everything people liked about it and said "Let's do the opposite of all of that." I could maybe live with it if it was following up The Last Knight but after Bumblebee this feels like a direct insult. And in a franchise with some of the most god awful Mecha designs in history they've created a real contender for an all-time worst with Wheeljack.

I've seen the typical corporate defense force moaning about how "actually it's okay that the designs look bad because the Bumblebee intro everyone liked doesn't matter" but to go from that to something like Wheeljack is inexcusable.

This. The fundamental fact is that Paramount, and Bay in particular, do not see the Transformers as characters. They see them as interchangeable CGI props and vehicle advertisements. Bay made his outright contempt for them well known. You are not supposed to consider their lives outside their role in the movie or movies in which they appear. They exist exclusively for action scenes.

There is genuinely no more soulless movie franchise than Transformers. I would go even further to say it is one of the few pieces of cinema you can consider outright evil. They exist not as stories or expressions of any human experience but as empty money grabbing ventures that value violence above all else. The only moral that can be taken from the movies is that violence and murder is to be celebrated. They are movies for demons.

Got a RID "Optimus", and it seems all the parts fucked up on it are most of the parts on my old copy that are in great condition (even the wheels), found a Punch/ Counterpunch fo $60 (FINALLY), and got a mint (not for long) Armada Scavenger for the same price.
Went to get snacks for work and found Metalhawk, so that's good to see lines are on time now in my area. Not a bad weekend.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and-

uh anyway, sometimes big handheld guns just look wrong somehow in titanic huge guys. maybe it's because the normal proportions of a handgun or rifle feel very "i'm going to shoot someone of my approximate size" and for giants, how often does that come up? maybe it's the fact that the only thing that feels quite right in their hands is something HUGE which makes even less sense, but shows off their strength? like a big handheld gatling kinda situation.. and big toys don't wanna spend that kinda cash anyway and I get it.
I think once you're that big it's like let's stick with melee, and cover the body in smaller guns that can fire at groups of smaller guys. that, and missiles. big guys need to have LOTS of missiles.

I really doubt that. If there was a real intention of having a big piece there then grey panel on top wouldn't have even existed, as it would have been easier (and cheaper) to just cover the gap with the gun and make some peg holes on top of the rear section and tabs on the front so everything stays in place more securely. That grey panel isn't really needed to attach the chest in robot mode as the shoulder assembly already does that.
Also the tower piece would have needed to be taller in that case so it doesn't look like it's sinking into that gun part, and I don't think there's that much storage space for it in the leg for that to work.

Those two holes are just detail, nothing else.

Not only that, but if the gun was cancelled "at the last minute" as said before, I'm pretty sure the tower would be part of it to simplify things so they don't need to hide in in the leg, saving money once again. I see more proof of you being wrong than anything else.

At the end of the day if they seriously designed it to have a gun there at first, just having in the correct shape from the back to the cockpit to the stern (covering the torso gap without the need of the gray panel) and having the tower as part of it so it's also removed in robot mode would be easier to design that what they actually made. That's why your theory about "being scrapped at the last minute" just because there's two sculpted holes there seems like pure nonsense to me.

vertigo would make a very difficult, but not impossible transformer.
I have ideas for how you could do the tail, and they typically end with a pretty thick forearm that still has a tail spike, and some additional tailmeat for a big pauldron. so you'd have to be okay with that.

It's weird how so much stuff DOESN'T use the toy head. I guess it's just because it's a basic mouthplate and nose combo, and Grimlock's cartoon visage is so much more unique. The last time his toy head had any real influence was G1 itself-- it was the basis for his Pretender and Actionmaster headsculpts, but everything ever since has been the show's revised head.

The mold needs some major changes, and the only thing that can really be salvaged is the torso.

Arms and shoulders need to be scrapped and replaced with ones more like the original toy, the shoulder pylons should rotate with the arms, not float above them.

Legs are just G1 Prime, way off. Needs new ones with way thicker wheels.

That’s how far Hasbro wants to avoid doing anything regarding BW. Even with the movie that has BW shit in it we still getting nothing but table scraps this year.
The BW reissue line was a dud too since they only reissued figures no really one cared for or already owned.

Can’t even get accurate Maximal figures in Studio Series now thanks to them constantly changing the designs during production.

We got tons of repaints last year, before the delay of the movie. There really isn't much more they could do.

I'm glad I'm not making a serious attempt at a G2 shelf. I skipped so many of them and they're sold out now that I'd feel silly feeling an urge to go completionist now that the era is really getting a lot of nonsense dedicated to it.

Laser Optimus was garbage, and both Megatrons being repaints was even worse.

Annoying that the peg placement on the Micromasters is usually at the front rather than in the middle. Attaching them to Optimus would be awkward since the entire rear is left hanging off and the front is too far back to have any presence. They should've at least given Minicon pegs or 5mm pegs with a hole inside on the shoulders and kept everything else as is. I just hope Flak doesn't look too bad on him due to his short profile.
