He looks cool at first and the robot mode is okay but there are clearance issues when transforming him and his arms just stick straight out of the back. Plus most egregiously, do you see that gap in the photo under the side window? Well that's much worse in person. The whole top of the vehicle mode is misaligned with the bottom of the vehicle so there are huge gaps and the whole thing is unstable. Avoid it.

Far as I know that one and Studio Series Cheetor are the only two. There might be another in one of the gimmick lines.

Arm mismanagement is doubled because in robot mode the tow hitch arms get in the way OFTEN and then in truck mode the robot arms are WFC bumblejumper levels of finicky to get just right.

And the tow hitch is only held together by the wrecking ball.

Can't wait for DNA design to come up with new arms for this figure that are actually good, he would be so fun if the arms didn't get in the way of the arms in both modes.

Whats your point? the original was bigger, but supermode was a brick that only looked fine from the front, as for the "base modes" both are straight trash, but at least the legacy one doesn't kill articulation.

The original base mode with its deployable weapons, multiple levels and storage spaces is pretty fun if you have a good bunch of minicons. But yeah, I'd rather sacrifice all of that if that means the combined mode finally has real legs.

Because they don't transform, they just stand there. They have no fun factor.

All these years later I can still be amused by the humble G1 Bumblebee, I think that says a lot about how genuinely enjoyable a simple intuitive transformation can be.

Neat, but not great. There's always the sound of the gear grinding at the end of the transformation and well the whole thing is just the trailer opening itself inside out which gets old. Inb4 someone mentions the trailer catches fire which I find bullshit as only one case mentions it and doesn't have video proof other than his words.

While I agree that the old toys can be charming and they can still have fun transformations, but I really, really appreciate how far transformers have come in the articulation department. I enjoy posing my transformers just as much as I like transforming them them.

I'm mostly happy with the new figure but it endlessly pisses me off how we got just about perfect articulated hand designs for Rodimus and Jetfire and yet they refuse to use them for Motormaster or Optimus here.

I can maybe understand with Optimus since his Super Hands has to fold inside his legs when not in use but Motormaster yeah not sure why they gave him a stock fist similar to the one Baldigus has rather than making it articulated. There's plenty of room in the trailer for the fist and CW combiners in the POTP era have articulated hands.

Just realized that with the way the feet and Super Hands work in the new Legacy Armada Optimus he technically has 5mm port wrist so anything with a 5mm peg can become a new pair of hands for Optimus. Fuck now I should get Legacy Blitzwing to do pic related.

Off the top of my head, from Bayverse, there's Crankcase, KSI Sentry, Shadow Raider, and B-127. And from '86, there's Jazz, Blurr, and Grimlock. Possibly others I'm forgetting, and this doesn't even cover stuff like Buzzworth Bumblebee repaints or the 15th anniversary movie multi-pack. Sure they don't reuse molds nearly as often as Generations, but it happens.

Designers have started to begin hitting their stride of blending good transformations with good articulation again. After Prime Wars, SS, and WFC made transformations either a frustrating and unsatisfying chore or so simple a Star Wars collector could do it it's nice to see some actual good in that department again.

The Walmart G2 sideswipe is blue with neon yellow.

Black G2 Sideswipe and G2 Jazz with Music note decos are apparently coming as some other exclusive. G2 Starscream is supposed to have a connected box that goes with Sideswipe and Jazz, so it may be an amazon exclusive.

G2 inferno is coming with some weaponizer that makes his waterspout cannon, Inferno is hot pink. Black Trailer G2 Prime seems very likely at this point to also be an amazon exclusive.

Also yeah I agree. I’d pay good money to see all of the CW figures upsized to scale with Omega Supreme, Devastator and Predaking. So far we have Superion and Defensor OSKO. There is an Abominus too, but he’s not nearly big enough.

On TB and Hoist it seems ok, but you might get some paint chipping on the grill if you're not careful. The only real part at risk of breaking connect to the backpack and shouldn't break if you're careful.

I've seen a number of Ironhide's with parts snapping on the clear hinges. I'd wait for a non- clear version. A shame since it looks phenomenal and it has a cool transformation (I passed on it myself).

I'd have to check the Siege and er Datsun mold, but if you transform it properly, it should hold up. If you have to force the clear plastic roof for car mode, you either got a bad copy or did it wrong. Doing it wrong will break it.

Jazz and Jackpot seem to have a unique problem. Transforming them properly is a must, but they also have a slight flex down the middle of the clear plastic (the windshield area) and that can break even if left alone. Not worth getting, since unlike the TR Hot Rod mold, the crack gets worse with time.

With G2 being a new focus I hope that means we're a step closer to getting a new version of Jetstorm, he was my favorite as a kid. I'm pretty sure they can't have that many Leo Primes when Tarn is sold out most places. They shared the same case wave and only Tarn got an extra solid case of 6. Nothing about that goofy lion face sculpt is anime accurate. Hasbro bragged about it during their livestream claiming they were going for a realistic-looking lion face instead, but clearly they screwed up at even that.

I've seen people selling stickers to put over the eyes which help a little, but I'm surprised there hasn't been a third party upgrade kit to replace the lion head entirely (although maybe that would be too difficult considering Hasbro's current reliance on pins instead of screws).

Hard to say without feeling it in person, but my usual remedy for stuff like this is working floor polish into the joint. I use acid brushes to get in between the connection, wipe off the excess, and let it dry. I'm thinking that should give it enough hold to overcome the force of the spring in that claw part.

Sorry, I misunderstood your first post about the pins and it's been a very long time since I owned that mold. If that piece can come off, I would remove it and apply the floor polish to the all the surfaces on the joint.

If you've never used the floor polish stuff before, it becomes pretty addictive to find figures in your collection who need tightening up!

On that note, what are people's thoughts on the G2 dudes, anyway? I grabbed Jazz (I like the colors, and he's got two new guns which can be combined and plugged onto his back in such a way that they form a shoulder canon, which is neat) and Toxitron (this being the only version of the Legacy Laser Prime mold I'm biting at. I still think the mold itself is crap, but the odds of me getting another Toxitron in the future are slim, so I'll take what I can get). I was born in 1990 so I missed out on most of Gen 2 except I had Laser Prime and Scavenger. But Transmetal 1 and 2 is what made me love crazy colours and weird shit, and Beast Machines and RiD to a lesser degree. Sadly after that I stopped buying toys and missed out on Universe.

this had the fun side effect of making it so that Beast Wars figures are more or less in scale* with 3.75 inch scale GI Joe figures and vehicles, though this does have the funny side effect that Beast Era Cybertronians with vehicle modes(like most of the Beast Wars II Predacons or any of the various "Cybertronian Mode" figures they've done of characters from the cartoon) as well as the Vehicons are in-universe really tiny by Cybertronian standards(or for that matter the several Beast Era Transformers who are derived from G1 designs like Gigastorm and the BWII Seacons are very tiny compared to their G1 counterparts)

*not perfectly so but compared to how fucky scale usually is in Transformers it works out good enough

anon, the movies so far have had lots of smaller characters. the arcees, the previous scorponok and all the movie equivalent 'cassetteformers', uhhh.. Alice for what it's worth.. they even had that one tiny guy that turns into a toy car, and mini dinobots for no reason.

plus they had gigantic mountain-sized guys who dwarf the rest, because it's fun. contrast is fun.

If you want contrast then just watch the original Beast Wars cartoon. The movies are a whole separate entity, the toys aren't going to scale the Autobots and Maximals based on the original cartoon and most people have dreamt of a crossover between the 2 factions while ignoring size differences because that would be very inconvenient to their imagination and writing.

Our best bet is an Armada live action film that would most likely retain the Minicons and keep them human sized because they're exactly what their faction name is called. There's your contrast.

The Netflix series does something really weird where, instead of making the BW characters bigger to scale with the G1 cast, they actually somehow made the G1 cast SMALLER to match the BW cast. It's not noticable until you get to the Kingdom segment - when Prime and co. arrive on primitive Earth, the trees and environment look to be scaled to the Beast Wars guys, which makes all of the Autobots and Deceptions look like toy vehicles in comparison.

The MCU made people retarded and now everyone thinks that any concept, character, or setting is automatically "confusing" if it doesn't have an entire origin movie or series to explain it first. Even if you haven't seen the G1 cartoon, Beast Wars gives you enough background to understand what's going on for the purposes of the plot.

The reason the 3rd party CW Magnus worked was because the base figure already essentially used an armor system, just that it worked with the cab instead of a hypothetical white Optimus.

Compacting into a cube and hiding away in the torso isn't any more of an "armor system" than what the MP did, which was basically the same thing. The CW mold just did it more gracefully because it wasn't forced to use a pre-existing alt mode design as the cab in order to match MP-10, or resticted to a certain size in order to fit the cartoon scale.

Also Hasbro has said any potential SS86 Megatron would be a tank, and if the “MV6” Megatron is for 86 then that means screen accuracy can go right out the window.

No, you don't have to deal with the issue of keeping working articulation and good looking proportions in both robotmodes.

CW is a solid starting point, it just needed better plastic and a design closer to G1 than IDW Magni.

well, kids back then didn't question anything. but yes people are more advanced in nerdery now, being surrounded by complex stories to keep track of (and generally staying far as fuck away from real life stories)
I just meant that if this was your first exposure to transformers, it might have been weird to see like 'whaaat, vehicles now?'
I got a bit of exposure to g2 as a kid, so I understood the concept, but I never loved vehicles other than like, tanks and jets. I always preferred the rare case of robot animals, and had a few no-name-brand transforming cats and junk.

Ended up getting Gen Selects Cyclonus and a few others during the Pulse Warehouse sale. He has some discolored parts his right side, the joint that moves his shoulder out and his bicep. Is this a case of yellowing of some kind?
