>>10338252>kids prefer to play videogames, watch videos or people who play videogames ect.Toys presupposes involvement, at least the ones we grew up with. Heck, even the games I grew up with were supposed to be played.
Now it's the era of low effort entertainment: just sit, watch, consume, repeat.
Smartphones are a type of toy. They're attached to it because of the novelty factor (dopaminergic stimulation of the constant stream of new games) and the low investment needed. The games on it have almost zero gameplay. That's the key. The more active participation a game needs, the less interested they are in it. I remember more than a decade ago watching 2 boys (around 10) play Minecraft together on their phones. I haven't seen anyone play Minecraft since.
Check out this article from almost 4 years ago:
https://matchmade.tv/blog/minecraft-has-overtaken-fortnite-heres-why/Notice how the metric for popularity is "video views". The more popular something is, the less people play it, the more they watch others play it. WTF?
Now think of toys channels on YouTube. Not the review ones, but the ones where there's someone playing with the toys. Even if the child has the toys, they will choose to spend more time watching someone else play with the toys than play with the toys themselves.
Kidults are a thing now because the market had to shift a little. Toy companies find it very difficult to sell to kids therefore in other to survive they have to sell to older kids/adults (think GunPla, LEGO, overly delicate and complex action figures). Or clever still, they market their stuff to the parents under the guise of "Your kids will love this!". Spoiler: they won't. Never in my life have I ever seen a little girl play with a LOL doll yet they sell like crazy.
I doubt this ends here. I suspect that if adults were polled, we would see a far greater percentage of them choose porn over real sex.
