Why is lego the only toy that is normie ok but the rest aren't? Like if I collect Marvel Legends of Transformers I am a weirdo but lego is ok.

Lego is essentially playing with dolls and unless you are spending hundreds of dollars on plastic bricks you can't really make anything unique. Everything comes in a licensed set, each set can really only be used for one thing, there are so many alt builds you can make with the parts they give you.

You buying the lego tony stark set and the lego mech set and slapping them together to make lego tony stark hulk isn't really as creative as you think it is. You do exactly what you accuse others of doing and pretend you are superior for it.

Its all about function or lack of thereof.
Lego display pieces evoke the same feeling a nice vase might, it blends in with the rest of the decor with it non functionality.
Other kinds of toys need to be made part of a diorama or mutilated as sculptures to get rid of the idea that it can be played with.
At least this is how I have come to interpet peoples reactions.

I think its seen as a modeling hobby, like making trains and dioramas. Those are more socially acceptable. There is also some engineering/planning required so that makes you plan ahead and adds challenge.
I used to really be into Lego, but overtime I found the barriers are more annoying to deal with. I would rather be thinking I wish I had some missing parts, or that its not quite as accurate as I was hoping. If I ever got back into Lego I would just use it to make RPG board game like stuff because of its grid structure. Sadly there aren't many modular toys that exist with enough variety to put together landscapes and enviroments with ease.

I think this is due in part to Pavlovian Conditioning from all the normalfag brands Lego has associated with ever since they first made Star Wars sets in 1999.
If you constantly capitalize on a pop culture iconography for long enough, you become a pop culture icon by association.

I always hated lego as a kid for the same reason I hated tetris growing up and Minecraft as a parent.

The geometric cubic style and solid colours is really off putting.

There are no gradients, no textured sculpts, no shading. Same with technics and things like mechano and playmobil.

It's just not pleasant to look at.
