>>10343215I have a far different experience with the articulation on the new Raven Spawn. I find him very limited in articulation to the point where he can't really pull off poses that are that great:
-He has those soft plastic overlays around his shins and ankles so its near impossible to get an ankle rocker, only a bit of a foot swivel
-The ankles have 2 vertical positions from the ratcheting; any other notches run into the overlay--this was before McFarlane fixed their heavy ankle ratchets with later figures
-The torso barely can crunch forward or back and I can't get more than a waist swivel out of the waist ball joint
-The blue cloak edges that hang over his shoulders are attached at the bicep but they extend so far upwards and under the immobile 'real' cloak that is around the head and back that it makes it risky to try to extend his arms too far up to the side (to a T-pose) or twist the bicep too far out of neutral as the cloak edges could snag and rip off the glue attaching them. He can lift his arms straight up though
Also with the dual hook chain thing, the advantage of it being somewhat solid is that you can put the grip for the smaller hook side in his hand and then have the other look like its flying forward dynamically like a whip; some of the best poses I've gotten out of the new one have been with this. I don't even bother trying to have one of the grips in his left hand and the other in his right; that's not the strength of that accessory. It's the fact that it looks like its in dynamic motion.
Also you're a bit incorrect on the paint of the new Raven being barely there, its actually got a lot of paint, the heavy brown is the paint and the blue peeking out from under all over is the plastic (look at the solid blue color of the joints). The problem is the artistry/expertise put into the original Raven Spawn which used a lot of varied materials that appear to be glued on metal or copper is not there so the new one looks worse despite the paint.
