I've purchased up to Tung Lashor's wave, but only seen up to Wave 7 at retail. The nearest of the 3 Wal-Marts in town has removed ALL MotU lines from the planogram.
I remember some people saying they saw Pig Head warming pegs? Wave 9 hit brick & mortar but 10-13 are all getting skipped?
Amazon says pic related will be available August 26. Will that be the next wave Wal-Mart & Target order (for Christmas), or will they mostly order an unrevealed November wave? Which one gets to clog pegs for two years?

I could go with that. He-Man has usually been barbarian fantasy with sci-fi trappings, it'd been interesting to see that flipped. I wonder how that'd worked in practice though. Some of them already wear their sci-fi influence on their sleeve, like Mekaneck and Man-E-Faces.

For the most part it would work...Slush Head is just space Mer-Man, Flipshot is space Stratos, Kayo is space Fisto. But you'd still have to make SOME new characters, like Sagitar or Hydron are pretty unique with no obvious vintage analogy

Ok so Origins avoids doing Classics characters (besides vintage and supercheap guys like Anti-Man, Wun-Dar, Slamurai...)

I was looking through these lists:

Some of these we have seen such as Kol Darr and Ghost (what they called Slamurai.) They could probably be divided up into two groups - ones that look awesome like Lizorr but would require new tooling. And ones like Gray (the guy in the beige vest from from Eldor's packaging) that are probably more likely.

I know it's not terribly likely thst Mattel WON'T make their own version, but since vehicles don't seem to move as well as figures and we only get 2 per year anyway, what if they're outsourcing creatures and vehicles? Like get Ramen to make a compatible Battle Bones, then Mattel can make a Bashasaurus, maybe outsource dinosaurs while Mattel does Mantisaur, etc. So that they can ensure they crank out all vintage vehicles

The Horde was defeated and both the Heroic Warriors and the Evil Warriors inherited Horde-tech. We could even use that premise to switch around character allegiances. Merman becomes a good guy, Skeletor lobotomizes and enslaves half of the Snakemen leaving the stragglers to join with He-man, maybe some heroic warriors even become evil. I've had this idea for a while of an evil purple Buzz Off repaint with a mosquito or house fly themed name as an evil warrior. Also bonus points if this all lets us bring back the meteorbs.

I dont think any of the classics guys could be made now since they're so obscure and require so much new tooling. But as far as 200X goes I can easily see the Adreenids, Tuvar, and Badra being made. The Adreenids would just be Buzz Off with a new head and lower legs while Tuvar and Badra are each literally half made. Both of them already have a head, an arm, and a leg. If Mattel wanted they could just pop each respective head on a different snakeman body and fill in the missing limbs with robotic or armored looking limbs to not have to worry about extra tooling costs.

Filmation is a bit trickier though. I think everybody has a favorite filmation OC. I also think every major filmation OC can sell well. But it's still going to cost Matty for tooling on the heads, weapons, and armor. For instance Id nutte if we got Aramesh but that fucker would have to be a completely new mold. Id be pissed if they just shit out a gold roboto with a cape and called it a day.

Maybe it's just me, but I honestly hate Aramesh's name because it just doesn't follow the standard Eternian naming convention. Aramesh doesn't give me any incite to his role, power, physical features or whatever. I'd prefer like Electroid or Robotron or Goldborg or some shit like that.

It doesnt follow toy naming convention. there are dozens of characters from cartoons and comics whose names dont mean anything and you're lucky if they get catchy name and not something like Braylok, Monteeg, Gamrak or Zalt.

I like them. I think that Terroar is the worst offender of being an obvious mashup. I can't explain why but Plasmar and Gr'Asp especially come across as less retarded and more like actual characters. Strobo is kind of in the middle but his action feature could have really made him fun.

Seeing them side by side, Origins even looks shittier. Like normally, overall, I think the Origins figures look better physically than their vintage counterparts (with a few exceptions like He-Man himself). But Tung Lashor has this kinda "softness" to him now.

If Mattel ever revisits Anti-Eternia again I would like it if they put a bit more effort in some of the variants. AE is very much MOTU's Shattered Glass and thus merits the added effort. I dont think its enough to just reuse familiar color schemes for evil warriors, I would push further and go for inverted colors, new back stories, and even different weapons.

I really don't know what to make of Seeley as a MotU writer. Like, he's obviously a fan and "gets" the material to a certain extent in his comics. You see it in stuff like Skeletor and Mumm-Ra hurling childish insults at each other, Orko giving Cyborg dreadlocks with a magic spell,
including guys like Goat Man and Strong-Arm in his evil warriors line up, having enough knowledge of fucking Battle Tappers to include jokes from the game in the comic...but then he turns around and does shit like cannibalistic Anti-Eternians, Supergirl ripping Two-Bad in half with guts all over the place, etc, stuff that has no place in MotU

Huh, I don't have the figures yet but yeah, I can see the fun of head cannoning their back stories for my world. Like maybe my palace guard is hypnotized by king hiss Magix and slowly mutates into a snake man, which leads to man at arms developing his snake armor. Idk, somehow tie he man and skeletor against hordak and the snake men. Without writing an essay this makes sense in my motu world.

I think so. I remember receiving Webstor as a gift circa 1986 and noticing that he wasn't so much a spider-person as darker blue Skeletor with a different head.
I also remember not minding that my collection never included Man-At-Arms, Prince Adam or Tri-Klops, because they were different heads on He-Man's body and two of them had what was meant to be skin painted as tights.

Just the first 3, since those are the most likely spots for cool new character teases. Sssqueeze I particular, his vintage card had Rio-Blast so I expect a tease of him there.
The snakemen box will probably exclusively be more snakeshit, the Rulers of the Sun box will probably be like the last one and just feature the 3 in the set, and MEF art will most likely just recreate his minicomic so no new characters there

I think it would be an easy sale to vintage motu collectors as "the toy that never was", they also made up a chunk of the eternia backers too since some saw it as a cheaper way to get the set than buying the actual one

Funny thing is that there is some creativity and variety to them...Snake 4-pack literally just switches Rattlor and Khan's heads around, puts Snake logo on their chests and calls it a day.

If Origins would kept going after finishing vintage I would prioritise doing lost Wave, Pop, cartoon Pop, NA, 200X, cartoon 200X, 30th Anniversary and maybe some crossart repaints. Examples of few Waves

- Sir Laser-Lot, Netossa, 200X Rattlor, Strobo

- Kowl, Horde Prime, 200X King Grayskull, Draego-Man

- Chief Carnivus, 200X Man-At-Arms, 200X Whiplash, 200X Mer-Man

- 200X Evil-Lyn, Optikk, Filmation She-Ra, 200X Zodak

On that note - now that they're willing craft new parts for 200X figures, which characters do you think should get 200x toys in Origins? Some of my suggestions listed above.

DESU, I'm kinda torn on idea of 200X Evil-Lyn because we already got one. Yes, I know she could be much better but that feels like Origins tricking you into buying same toy twice. Imagine if they just re-released Man-At-Arms but with more paint applications and extra weapons at retail.

I only particularly want 200x variants in cases where I'm not 100% satisfied with current origins versions.
So Stinkor, Beast Man, Kobra Khan, Mekaneck, Zodak. Evil-lyn ONLY if they also repaint it yellow like the ministatue version of 200x Lyn got since the shade they used for the first wave was too canary like

If you like the designs, they are technically better figures than Origins. Better sculpting and articulation. They only get hate because people just don't like the character designs as character designs (I'm in that camp myself).

I just prefer Origins because of the first 10 deluxes, Scare Glow, Roboto, Clawful, Horde Trooper & Mantenna with their action features.
And I have a small child I'll be able to share them with sooner than the more delicate Masterverse.

Just got my Battle for Eternia II set form Deep Discount.
It really feels (especially with their statement () that they WERE trying to fuck people.
Supposedly this set had the same "lack of Interest" as the Advent set.
In other words they under-produced and had terrible distribution. this is supposedly the last set of figures that come alone.
All they have is HALO and Pokemon and those shitty swords. They can fuck off and die for letting licenses fall by the wayside and their INCREDIBLY shitty distribution.
They have no new licensed IP's or any interesting ones of their own.
MEGA has nothing more for me now.

I am surprised with how popular Pokemon and Halo is still doing. I think the Pokemon ones look awful imo (except for maybe that Gyarados). I am glad Halo is still doing well. Them experimenting with movies like Terminator and Alien was really cool, but they didn't really take it anywhere. Guessing the new Terminator movie killed that off, and maybe the Alien acquisition by Disney (under Fox) killed off Alien. Really stinks.

I seem to remember them responding with "that's as much as we are interested in" with the Aliens license. That either means they lost it or are idiots. I think failing to do anything but tease with their own two IP's (Vikings and Beyonders) and never seeming to have a full follow-through with ideas. Actually, I haven't seen the CGI show. But the whole trope of "fanatically religious villain summons the monster he worships and is immediately killed by it" is weirdly common and the face he makes reminds me of that look of fanatical ecstasy they have. like they either don't care they're going to die or consider it an honor.

Cases in point: you can go on ebay and buy Moatys for $25 and there's a guy on heman.org that made himself an entire series of Eternia Minis with the characters Mattel wouldn't touch (Mantenna, Strongarm, Spikes for Galaxy Warriors).
10 years ago that might have been more convincing as legit, but not any more.
